Join UCLA Health's Enterprise Infrastructure Services team and play a critical role in supporting the advanced network infrastructure that powers one of the nation's leading academic health systems. As a Network Engineer, you will design, implement, monitor, maintain, and optimize enterprise network technologies that support clinical, research, administrative, and operational services across UCLA Health.

Reporting to the Manager of IT Network Services, you will provide technical expertise and operational support for a complex, 24x7 production environment, including core and distribution networks, wired and wireless access infrastructure, VoIP systems, WAN connectivity, IP address management, DHCP services, and network monitoring platforms. This role is ideal for a technology professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex network challenges, and is passionate about delivering reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure solutions.
What You'll Do
  • Implement, configure, support, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure, including core, distribution, wired and wireless access networks, WAN technologies, VoIP systems, DHCP, IPAM, and network monitoring platforms.
  • Provide day-to-day operational support for UCLA Health's 24x7 enterprise network environment, ensuring high availability, performance, reliability, and security.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents, service requests, configuration issues, and infrastructure outages while ensuring timely escalation and resolution of critical issues.
  • Monitor network performance, identify opportunities for optimization, and implement improvements that enhance stability, scalability, and user experience.
  • Participate in network maintenance activities, upgrades, patching, system enhancements, and technology refresh initiatives.
  • Support enterprise infrastructure projects by contributing to solution design, implementation, testing, deployment, documentation, and operational readiness activities.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, standards, procedures, runbooks, and knowledge base articles.
  • Ensure compliance with established policies, standards, security requirements, and operational best practices.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, application, telecommunications, and business teams to deliver reliable and scalable technology solutions.
  • Evaluate, learn, and support emerging networking technologies as they are introduced into the UCLA Health environment.
  • Assist with capacity planning, performance analysis, disaster recovery preparedness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in a rotating 24x7 on-call support schedule and provide after-hours support as needed to maintain critical business operations.

At UCLA Health, you'll work with cutting-edge technologies in a highly collaborative environment while helping support the critical systems that enable exceptional patient care, groundbreaking research, and world-class healthcare operations. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to large-scale infrastructure initiatives, expand your technical expertise, and make a meaningful impact across one of the most respected healthcare organizations in the nation.

If you're passionate about enterprise networking, infrastructure modernization, and delivering reliable technology solutions that directly support patient care, we invite you to join our team.

This flexible hybrid role allows for a blend of remote and on-site work, requiring presence on-site at least 40% of the time or more based on operational requirements. Please note, travel to the "home office" location is not reimbursed. Each employee will complete a FlexWork Agreement with their manager to outline expectations and ensure mutual understanding. These arrangements are periodically reviewed and may be adjusted or terminated as necessary.
