Radio-Canada’s regional media serve as the primary gateway to the French-language public broadcaster for the vast majority of Canadians across the country. To ensure their ongoing relevance and reflect contemporary Canada, our regional media services are currently undergoing a major strategic evolution.
The Strategic Planning, Organizational and People Development department defines the strategic planning for the Regional Media sector, monitors its execution, and maintains cross-functional alignment with regional directorates and other sectors. It also oversees the implementation of Radio-Canada's priority objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- In concert with the General Manager of Regional Media, defines the strategic direction for the entire component and plans its execution.
- Identifies priority projects and files for regional media and oversees their deployment and follow-up, including:
- Implementing the "needs wheel" (roue des besoins) into journalistic processes and transforming television newscasts.
- Driving digital literacy across teams.
- Managing training and recruitment.
- Handling accountability reporting (CRTC and others).
- Identifies, develops, and analyzes key performance indicators (KPIs) related to priority projects, and monitors them in collaboration with general management and regional directorates.
- Acts as the liaison with all sectors of Radio-Canada, CBC, and partner groups for the deployment and execution of strategic directions and priority projects.
- Facilitates connections between the various regional directorates regarding resources, knowledge transfer, projects, etc.
- Develops and maintains relationships with community partners across the country, notably community radio stations, regional weekly newspapers, colleges, universities, etc.
- Conducts strategic intelligence regarding local news nationwide and community-based media, with the support of internal partners.
- Oversees all regulatory aspects for regional media, particularly in connection with CRTC obligations and Public Consultation Meetings (PCMs).
- Represents Radio-Canada’s regional media and acts as an internal and external spokesperson for all projects and files under their responsibility.
This role requires full-time on-site presence.
Your profile:
- University degree in a relevant field (e.g., journalism, communications, business administration, etc.).
- Over ten (10) years of management experience in strategic-level roles.
- Excellent skills in strategic planning, implementation, and KPI tracking.
- Outstanding positive, collaborative, and unifying leadership skills.
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong interest in engaging with employees, colleagues, community members, and external organizations.
- Excellent command of the primary working language, French (oral and written), and an excellent command of English.
- Experience in and knowledge of the Francophone media, cultural, and political landscape in Canada.
- Experience and proficiency in financial and budgetary management.
- Knowledge of programming development and production processes (an asset).
- Knowledge of the broadcasting industry and current practices (an asset).
