Position: Senior Director, Software Engineering
Job Location: 14901 Quorum Drive, Dallas, TX 75254
Duties: Analyze the requirements, updates, and modifications for alignment with business objectives and priorities. Articulate the impact of proposed solutions. Help teams to assess the feasibility of new requirements. Prioritize the product and solution requirements to drive the creation of Minimum Viable Product (MVP) to meet the core requirements. Identify areas for product enhancements, new features, and updates based on customer requirements and feedback. Contribute to the creation of user stories for complex requirements. Create simple, modular, extensible, and functional designs in adherence to the requirements for multiple products and solutions. Understand customer requirements and analyze the gaps between existing architecture and customer requirements. Analyze system performance impacting the complete product for non-functional requirements. Create detailed designs using mock screens, pseudo codes, and detailed functional logic of the modules for an entire product. Finalize the tech stack for products/systems based on the business needs. Review the MVP to uncover risks and check for performance and usability. Drive design of software, production and preproduction environments and deployment pipeline to continuously generate records for telemetry. Select appropriate frameworks, platforms, and environments for software coding/configuration and scripting. Help the team with coding patterns, languages, and frameworks. Implement telemetry features by determining data/metrics requirement. Support ad-hoc reviews of software code. Create/configure minimalistic code for entire product/system and ensure the product meets business requirements, non-functional requirements, low-maintainability, high-availability, and high-scalability needs. Arrange project requirements in programming sequence. Drive creation of scripts for automation of repetitive and routine tasks in CI/CD, testing, or any other process. Translate customer requirements into test strategy. Determine the testing tools, domains, environments, and test types to be employed to achieve testing objectives. Identify scope and method of testing for each requirement. Ensure that the test cases cover all the test scenarios for the product/solution requirements. Drive execution of test cases to test the code and detect errors and defects for the entire product. Conduct root cause analysis and root cause corrective action to identify the origin of defects and performance gaps and prevent them from recurring. Track registered issues for the product/solution and prioritize them for resolution. Measure usability of the product/solution as per customer/business requirement after defect fixing and plugging test gaps. Analyze the issues and plan a series of steps which potentially includes reconfiguration, integration, removal, or addition of application components to enhance the application's functionality, usability, and security. Establish end-to-end processes for application monitoring and support along with traceability matrix. Oversee initiatives for reducing Maintenance Debt for legacy and declining applications liability, prioritizing urgent requirements and problems. Oversee domain and multiple initiative level maintenance activities and review performance reports and user feedback, considering technical and practical constraints. Provide inputs to define performance objectives and metrics for tracking completion status of programs across multiple products. Prepare architecture documents and presentations defining the rationale and implications of architectural decisions. Evaluate system performance and scalability. Supervise sixteen (16) employees (2 Senior Manager(s), Software Engineering, 2 Staff Software Engineer(s), 10 Senior Software Engineer(s), and 2 Software Engineer(s) III).
Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering (any), or related area and 7 years of post-bachelor's progressively responsible experience in software engineering or related area; OR Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering (any), or related area and 5 years of experience in software engineering or related area.
Skills required: Experience with architecture and design video player, ad framework, hardware-abstraction layer, native development kit, and porting software for embedded devices. Experience developing applications and application frameworks for web and native environments on embedded devices. Experience with video player development and digital video standards: HLS, DASH, EME, MSE, MPEG2-TS, SCTE-35, and Closed Captioning. Experience with Object Oriented Concepts, Operating System Concepts, and Inter Process Communication. Experience with C/C++, JavaScript, object-oriented programming, HTML5, and makefile. Experience reviewing software architecture and designs and planning and intergrading software components. Experience communicating with technical and non-technical multi-functional teams. Experience providing technical guidance, career development, and mentoring to team members. Experience driving the execution and delivery of features by collaborating with cross functional teams, architects, product owners, and engineers. Experience hiring, managing, and directing a software engineering team. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
Salary Range: $209,394/year to $320,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.
