The PositionSenior Director, Real World Data, Informatics and Science (RWDIS) leads the functions in the Clinical Data Science and Evidence (CDSE) department of Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI) focused on real world data strategy, clinical informatics and real world science to support the local market needs. This individual will anticipate changes in the organization and drive the development of RWDIS to meet the evolving needs within these areas. This individual will serve as a leader within NNI, the broader NN organization and the industry within these areas by sharing best practices, advising other functions, and driving broader adoption and optimal use of these activities.
RelationshipsThis individual will report to the Vice President of CDSE, serve on the CDSE Leadership Team and contribute to the overall management of the CDSE department. This individual will provide leadership to RWDIS, mentor and develop leaders within RWDIS and CDSE, and work collaboratively within CDSE, CMR functions, broader NNI and Global functions to ensure local market needs are met. This individual will represent these functions across NNI, NN and the external environment to include scientific conferences and societies, key opinion leaders, advisory boards, industry councils and the broader medical community.
Essential Functions- Lead the functions in the (CDSE) department of NNI focused on real world data strategy, clinical informatics, and real world science to support the local market needs. This individual will anticipate changes in the organization and drive the development of CDSE to meet the evolving needs within these areas. This individual will serve as a leader within NNI, the broader NN organization and the industry within these areas by sharing best practices, advising other functions, and driving broader adoption and optimal use of these activities
- Development:
- Drive personal and team development of leaders and employees in terms of real world data strategy, clinical informatics real world science capabilities as well as leadership capabilities and team management skills. Attends relevant scientific meetings, conferences, and courses
- Strategic:
- Primary ownership for the CMR Real World Data Strategy, Clinical Informatics Strategy and Real World Science Strategy
- Oversee and provide strategic guidance for all real world data strategy, clinical informatics real world science activities in NNI and ensure alignment with NNI enterprise strategy, portfolio, and product strategies as well as Global strategies. Drive understanding and appropriate use of real world data strategy, clinical informatics real world science in the organization and secure compliant processes are in place
- Participates as a strategic, contributing member of the CDSE senior leadership team and oversees NNI due diligence and other senior level oversight associated with the role
- Internal/External Relationships:
- Foster development of relationships with US and Global KOLs and thought leaders, including but not limited to the function, serving as a driver on the use of data, analytics and modeling representing NN in external professional societies, pharma associates, seminars, and conventions
Physical Requirements10-20% overnight travel required.
Development of PeopleSupervisory. Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process. Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility. Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.
Qualifications- PhD or Masters required in a quantitative health-related field (i.e. Health Economics, Outcomes Research, Clinical Epidemiology, Pharmacology, Physiology, Marketing or similar)
- 15+ years industry, research and/or analytics experience
- 5+ years of experience from at least one of the relevant areas of RWE/RWD, analytics and/or modeling
- 3+ years of people management and team leadership responsibilities in a data and analytics capacity. Previous experience leading a complex matrix organization, management of managers a plus
- Pharmaceutical research and/or insights experience, including expertise in observational studies, statistical research methodology, data and analytics
- Solid understanding of the US Healthcare system as well as market- and patient access dynamics required
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative, relationship building and communication skills
- Superior strategic/tactical planning experience within a pharmaceutical/technology environment is required
- Must maintain necessary credentials and remain in good standing within the medical/scientific community (if applicable)
The base compensation range for this position is $229,200 to $401,100. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance. Novo Nordisk offers long-term incentive compensation and or company vehicles depending on the position's level or other company factors.
