The Senior Director, Provider AI Innovation and Strategy leads in the design, packaging, and commercialization of our AI solutions in the Provider area of our portfolio. This leader will translate advanced AI capabilities into market-ready products and solution offerings, partnering closely with go-to-market, engineering, and operations teams to deliver measurable client value and business growth.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities:- Portfolio Leadership: Define and manage the AI solutions portfolio and roadmap, ensuring alignment with client needs and business strategy
- Go-to-Market Enablement: Equip sales and delivery teams with compelling product narratives, competitive positioning, and reference architectures
- Support Delivery: Partner with Optum.ai engagement leaders to lead client-facing meetings, workshops, and status updates to ensure technical capabilities are translated into measurable business value
- Innovation Intake: Prioritize and translate research outputs and new capabilities into commercial offerings by working with internal and external partners
- Pricing and Commercial Discipline: Develop pricing strategies and commercial guardrails in partnership with operations and finance
- Partnerships and Ecosystem: Build and manage relationships with external partners, technology providers, and industry collaborators to accelerate market reach; collaborate with Legal and/or Corporate Compliance functions to account for intellectual property, including patents and trademarks; data privacy and security, including HIPAA; and commercialization quality related to new AI-enabled digital capabilities
- Performance Management: Set and track key performance indicators for portfolio growth, profitability, and customer impact

Required Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
- 12+ years of experience in product strategy, product management, corporate strategy, commercialization, innovation, consulting, or related leadership roles
- 5+ years of experience leading AI, machine learning, advanced analytics, or digital transformation initiatives from strategy through implementation and adoption
- 5+ years of experience with a top-tier management consulting firm (e.g., McKinsey, Bain, BCG, Deloitte, Accenture Strategy, or equivalent), including responsibility for leading client engagements and delivering executive-level recommendations
- 5+ years of experience developing and executing enterprise-level growth, commercialization, or innovation strategies that resulted in new products, capabilities, revenue streams, or operational improvements
- 5+ years of experience in one or more provider-focused domains including clinical operations, patient access, care management, revenue cycle management, workforce management, quality improvement, consumer engagement, population health, or care delivery operations
- 5+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams consisting of business, clinical, operational, product, technology, analytics, and external partner stakeholders
- 3+ years of experience structuring, negotiating, or managing external partnership models, including strategic alliances, joint ventures, technology licensing agreements, research collaborations, commercial development agreements, or similar innovation-focused partnerships
- 3+ years of experience evaluating emerging technologies, market opportunities, investments, acquisitions, venture partnerships, or innovation portfolios
- Demonstrated experience leading the launch, commercialization, or scaling of two (2) or more AI-enabled products, platforms, or solutions serving healthcare providers, health systems, hospitals, physician groups, ambulatory organizations, post-acute providers, or related healthcare organizations
- Experience presenting business cases, strategic recommendations, investment proposals, or transformation initiatives to executive leadership teams, clients, boards, or senior stakeholders
- Working knowledge of AI/ML lifecycle management, cloud-based technology platforms, data ecosystems, model governance, risk management, and product commercialization practices
- Ability to travel up to 30% to 40% as required by business and client needs
Preferred Qualifications:- Master's degree, MBA, MPH, MHA, MS, or other advanced degree
- 10+ years of experience within healthcare provider organizations, healthcare technology companies, healthcare consulting, digital health, or related healthcare sectors
- Experience leading enterprise-wide AI strategy, innovation, or transformation initiatives with multi-functional stakeholder groups
- Experience collaborating with corporate venture capital, innovation, incubator, accelerator, or business development organizations to evaluate emerging technologies and strategic investments
- Experience supporting AI-enabled solutions across multiple provider domains, including clinical, operational, financial, and consumer-facing functions
- Demonstrated success managing products, programs, initiatives, or portfolios with enterprise-wide impact across multiple business units

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $159,300 - $273,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
