Position Overview:
The Senior Director, Pharmacy Business Operations and Integration receives general direction from the Chief Pharmacy Officer and is responsible for setting direction and coordinating the business and finance activities of the Department of Pharmacy. Drawing on a broad understanding of Hospital practices and policies and displaying a high degree of initiative and independent judgment, the incumbent will collaborate closely with departmental and organizational leadership to continually assess and direct a wide range of issues, including operational, personnel, budgetary, facilities and systems issues, programmatic development, long-range planning and project development. The incumbent will work with clinical and non-clinical staff members to optimize operational and cost efficiencies wherever possible. Will play a vital role in business planning, integration of newly acquired assets, and prioritization of digital and analytics support. Possesses a thorough knowledge of the regulatory environment as it relates to health care reimbursement and compliance, and contract management. Requires discretion and judgment to organize priorities, complete tasks and handle confidential information.

EDUCATION:
  • Master's degree in business administration, finance, or related field


TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
  • 7 years of progressively responsible purchasing, negotiating, inventory control, 340B, and financial analysis work experience.
  • 5 years of pharmacy operational experience as a pharmacist, technician, or support staff in a licensed pharmacy.


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
  • Expert 340B knowledge and experience running a 340B program for a large integrated delivery network
  • Knowledge of State, Federal and accrediting body regulations and standards, performs in accordance with them.
  • Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards.
  • Demonstrates credible leadership presence, with the ability to respond to questions with logic, clarity, calmness and authority; and the ability to motivate and engage others.
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to deliver presentations to a variety of audiences.
  • Understanding of the budgetary process and familiarity with the healthcare financial environment.
  • Demonstrates effectiveness in achieving goals through individuals without having direct control of those resources.
  • Ability to build and establish effective working partnership with employees, peers and leaders to achieve business objectives.
  • Requires a basic working knowledge of legal requirements and accreditation standards, including:
    • National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP)
    • The Joint Commission (TJC)
    • Title XXII
    • United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
    • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)
    • Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
    • United States Pharmacopeia (USP)
  • Expert knowledge of a variety of operational, finance, and HR systems, including: Vision, Hyperion, Peoplesoft, Kronos, Microsoft Access and Excel, and Google.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and executive-level communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office suite platform
  • Experience overseeing business analytics support teams

Pay Range is $236,641.60 to $378,622.40 / annual salary. Bay Area Pay Range is $268,902.00 to $430,248.00 / annual salary.

The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Base pay is only one component of Sutter Health's comprehensive total rewards program. Eligible positions also include a comprehensive benefits package.
