The Director, Strategy & Communications (DSC) is a field-based, non-promotional, medical, and scientific role. The DSC is a key part of the Field Medical Leadership Team and will co-own and shape the overall disease area and product strategy for Medical Science Liaison teams. This role provides strategic business planning, operational, and communications support to the Field Medical National Director on strategy development, project prioritization, initiative planning, congress execution, insight analytics, and impact tracking across the field medical organization. As a strategic partner to Field Medical leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, you will help translate medical and scientific priorities into actionable initiatives, deliver impactful insights that inform strategy, and drive operational excellence across the organization. This is a unique opportunity to influence how Field Medical teams engage, collaborate, and execute while helping advance innovative therapies that improve and extend patients' lives.


Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-own field medical business planning, strategy execution, and operations in partnership with the National Director.

  • Lead development and communication of disease, product, strategic, and competitive insights to Field Medical teams.

  • Translate medical and product strategies into actionable field initiatives and operational plans.

  • Drive project planning, implementation, tracking, and reporting for key Field Medical priorities and initiatives.

  • Measure, analyze, and communicate the impact of Field Medical activities, programs, and strategicobjectives.

  • Partner cross-functionally to gather, synthesize, and share field insights that inform medical strategy.

  • Lead Field Medical congress planning,logistics, and medical expert engagement strategies for priority meetings.

  • Design and execute clear, effective Field Medical communications across multiple channels and audiences.

  • Collaborate with Medical, Study and Site Operations, and other stakeholders to support clinical trial initiatives.

  • Partner with internal teams to align training, resources, and field medical support for organizational priorities.

Essential Requirements

  • Graduate degree in a scientific or healthcare disciplinerequired; doctoral degree preferred.

  • Minimum five years of pharmaceutical or related healthcare industry experience.

  • Strong understanding of clinical medicine, disease management, and medical research practices.

  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice standards and pharmaceutical industry compliance requirements.

  • Experience leading complex, cross-functionalprojectsand strategic initiatives.

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, collaboration, and stakeholder influence skills.

  • Strong business acumen withabilityto analyze, interpret, and communicate scientific and market insights.

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a matrixed,fast-paced, and evolving environment.

Desirable Requirements

  • Previousexperience in a Field Medical role within the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Working knowledge of customer relationship management systems such as Veeva or Salesforce and Field Medical operations.

Novartis Compensation Summary:

The salary for this position is expected to range between $185,500 - $344,500 per year. The final salary offered is determined based on factors like, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. Novartis may change the published salary range based on company and market factors.

Your compensation will include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on the level of the role, eligibility to be considered for annual equity awards. US-based eligible employees will receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, life and disability benefits, a 401(k) with company contribution and match, and avariety of other benefits. In addition, employees are eligible for a generous time off package including vacation, personal days, holidays and other leaves.
