Job DescriptionWHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
This global leader is responsible for managing the core components of the Corporate Real Estate (CRE) department including Portfolio Administration, Financial Operations, Departmental Planning and Operations, Risk, Governance and Control operations as well as Operations Technology. This role is critical in driving global alignment and consistency of CRE and ensuring our internal teams are effectively managing their portfolio of work as well as ensuring all financial, reporting, compliance and risk aspects are aligned to RBC's enterprise expectations and policies.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
- Accountable for the overall management of the CRE department on behalf of the accountable executive in charge including financial management (plan, forecast, 5-year outlook of NIE, projects, resourcing) as well as departmental processes and governance in alignment with enterprise policies and advisory of the departmental strategy and direction.
- Accountable for the Portfolio / Lease Administration service line and its end to end financial / operational relationship management of all landlords of RBC's global real estate leased portfolio. Accountable for the municipal financial relationship of the owned property portfolio.
- Oversight responsibilities in alignment with RBC's Financial Control team within CFO relating to lease account (IFRS 16 / ASC 842) as well as other accounting process implantation within the real estate scope including Asset Retirement Oblivion (ARO), accruals, provisions, etc.
- Oversight responsibilities in support of RBC's taxation group to ensure structure, framework and process implementation in support of appropriate tax implications and responsibilities
- Accountable for the overall Risk, Governance, Control and Compliance environment of CRE and its supplier partner(s) alignment with enterprise policies including but not limited to Risk Management, Control oversight, Regulatory Compliance Management and overall real estate compliance.
- Accountable for the end to end spend processes surrounding occupancy spend, payments and cash control totaling over $1 Billion CAD annually. Oversight responsibilities of global real estate occupancy budgets (totaling over $1.8B)
- Accountable for ensuring seamless technology and operational data flow functionality and overseeing information management system implementation in support of all functional COE's
- Operating as the COO of CRE, primary point of contact for all enterprise functional teams including risk, audit, finance, HR, Compliance, etc. and strategic advisor to the executive leadership.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
Must have: - Undergraduate degree coupled with CPA / MBA / professional designation
- Strong Leadership and demonstrated capability in organizational management and strategy with proven enablement and governance mindset
- Strong collaborative, change management capabilities with exceptional along with the ability to connect the dots and work horizontally in a large matrixed organization.
- Proven ability to operate at both depth and breadth across multiple functional areas and partners with strong financial, risk. legal, HR and technological acumen
- Strategic thought leadership for operational and organizational transformation
Nice-to-have:
- Experience / Knowledge in Commercial Real Estate (septically Corporate Real Estate) is an asset
- Ability to influence and impact senior leadership
