Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP, a global leader in intellectual property law, is seeking a Senior Director of Talent Acquisition & Professional Development to lead firmwide recruiting and professional development across attorneys and business services. This role focuses on ensuring talent strategies directly support long-term firm growth and performance.

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the Senior Director will shape and operationalize the firm's talent strategy-bringing structure, consistency, and discipline to recruiting and development while partnering closely with firm leadership to strengthen retention, readiness, and leadership continuity.

The role in action:

  • Bring structure and discipline to how talent is planned, recruited, and developed firmwide
  • Translate firm priorities into integrated recruiting and professional development initiatives
  • Strengthen attorney onboarding, development, and leadership readiness
  • Establish clear operating standards, workflows, and metrics across Talent functions
  • Use data, market insight, and judgment to inform workforce planning and hiring decisions

We are seeking candidates who:
  • Bring significant experience leading legal recruiting and/or attorney professional development within a law firm or complex professional services environment
  • Have partnered at the enterprise level with senior leadership and influenced firmwide outcomes
  • Understand how talent acquisition and development intersect with firm strategy and growth
  • Measure success through outcomes-quality of hire, readiness, retention, and pipeline strength
  • Lead with credibility, sound judgment, and a balance of strategic vision and execution
  • Possess 10+ years of relevant experience; law firm experience strongly preferred; bachelor's degree required (JD or advanced degree a plus)
