Full Job Description
This Senior Director provides strategic leadership, executive oversight, and operational direction for installation and maintenance activities in the Northern New Jersey region within the Fiber Engineering & Operations (FE&O) Central area.In this high-impact executive role, you will lead a large, multi-tiered field operations organization responsible for meeting and exceeding customer delivery and reliability metrics across Verizon's Consumer and Business organizations, Wholesale, and Enterprise customers. This includes, but is not limited to, being accountable for the installation and repair of critical services including POTS; FIOS; HSI; Special Services; and CPE. As a core member of the senior leadership team, you will drive operational excellence, manage multi-million dollar capital expenditure (CapEx) budgets, nurture key union and vendor partnerships, and foster a safety-first culture across the market. What you'll be doing: • End-to-End Service Delivery & Activation: Oversee multi-tiered field operations teams accountable for the installation and maintenance of complex services-including FiOS, High-Speed Internet, Special Services, POTS, and Customer Premise Equipment (CPE)-across Consumer, Business, Enterprise, and Wholesale accounts. • Network Reliability & Maintenance Governance: Direct market-wide preventive and corrective maintenance strategies to maximize network uptime, enforce strict SLA compliance, and minimize mean-time-to-repair (MTTR) across all outside plant and customer premise facilities. • Service Quality & Customer Experience: Establish rigorous quality control frameworks, standardized field workflows, and operational metrics to eliminate repeat trouble reports, drive first-time resolve rates, and elevate the total customer experience. • Strategic Leadership & People Engagement: Define and execute the long-term operational strategy for market-wide I&M service delivery while cultivating a culture that motivates, engages, and retains top field operations talent. Provide direct leadership, mentorship, and career growth pathways to inspire operational excellence, high productivity, and collaborative union partnerships. • Fiscal Accountability: Build, forecast, and manage multi-million dollar annual operational budgets. Drive operational cost-efficiencies, optimize truck-roll productivity, oversee fleet/equipment resources, and minimize total cost-to-serve across all customer segments. • Safety & Service Quality Assurance: Cultivate a safety-first culture across all customer premises and field environments. • AI & Technological Innovation: Champion the adoption of cutting-edge technological solutions, actively leveraging AI-driven workflows and automation to eliminate redundancies and enhance workforce efficiencies. What we're looking for: This position requires extensive technical knowledge of the Verizon infrastructure and Fiber Engineering & Operations footprint systems. In addition, the candidate should have a comprehensive understanding of how the FE&O field organization operates and how all organizations coordinate to install, test, and maintain the technology that connects customers to Verizon's network. As this position will interact with a variety of Verizon personnel at all levels of the organization, as well as interface with many different customers, union officials, leadership and stakeholders, excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. • Bachelor's Degree in related field, or equivalent experience (Accelerated degree desired) • 8+ years of progressive experience in telecommunications operations, with comprehensive technical knowledge of large-footprint carrier networks and systems. • Fiber Network & Field Operations Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience and deep technical knowledge installation, testing and repair in outside plant telecom environments, including Fios, underground/aerial fiber design, copper/POTS infrastructure, optical distribution networks, and high speed internet. Wireless experience is a plus. • People Leadership & Union Management: 7+ years of relevant supervisory experience managing multi-tiered leadership teams and a proven track record of leading large field and engineering teams in heavily unionized environments. • Direct Union Leadership Experience: Demonstrated success in handling complex labor relations, navigating union grievance processes, working directly with union officials, and interpreting collective bargaining policies. • Financial Acumen: Advanced principles and practices in cost estimating, budget preparation, and schedule performance for massive CapEx/OpEx projects. • Strategic & Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical and critical problem-solving skills; ability to organize complex data, build strategic recommendations, and manage multiple competing priorities. The candidate must work within the territory. This position is office-based and flexible to sit within any of the garage work centers in the Northern NJ area. For part-timers, your coverage will vary as you may be eligible for some of these benefits depending on your individual circumstances. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours. The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $184,000.00 - $321,000.00.
