The Senior Director IAM Product, Architecture and Governance will lead both the Product Management, Architecture, and Application Governance functions for the Scotiabank's global IAM services, supporting both external customers and enterprise workforce platforms, working to accelerate new product enhancements in alignment with business partners, fraud, and technology teams.

The incumbent will provide overall strategic product roadmaps, architectural design of IAM platforms, and ongoing governance models for supported applications which leverage IAM services, ensuring compliance with Scotiabank's Technology Policy and Standards, global regulations, and industry standard security practices.

Oversee Product Management for IAM Services and Platforms

  • Establish and lead Product Management for Customer IAM and Workforce IAM, defining intake, prioritization, requirements, and architectural alignment, while managing a team of Product Managers responsible for backlogs, features, and enhancements across customer and enterprise IAM domains.
  • Own the IAM product strategy and roadmap for enterprise and consumer platforms, partnering with business channels, fraud technology, Engineering, and key stakeholders to align critical capabilities, oversee execution (including vendor selection, MVP definition, rollout planning), and adapt priorities as conditions change.
  • Drive outcomes, funding, and continuous improvement, developing business cases and funding models in partnership with Technology, PMO, and Finance, establishing stakeholder feedback loops and KPIs for adoption, and maintaining strong awareness of industry trends, emerging IAM capabilities, and fraud protection advancements.


Responsible for Enterprise Grade IAM Services and Platforms

  • Lead and govern IAM architecture delivery, overseeing a team of domain architects responsible for designing scalable, resilient solutions that meet business requirements, adhere to security by design principles, and align with Enterprise Architecture standards and technology direction.
  • Drive cross bank architectural collaboration, partnering with Product Management, Engineering, security architecture, fraud, compliance, and business channel teams to design new platforms and features, align on integration patterns, and deliver secure, end to end IAM solutions.
  • Own architectural assessment and IAM technical leadership, defining the intake and assessment process for new features and enhancements (including cost and timeline estimates), guiding engineering execution, and representing IAM as the technology SME on enterprise wide transformation initiatives.


IAM Application Governance

  • Establish and lead the IAM Governance and Control function, ensuring global application compliance with Scotiabank Technology Policies and Standards, regional regulatory requirements, and external audit expectations across customer and workforce platforms.
  • Define and operate sustainable governance processes and tooling, including application inventory, compliance tracking, and control effectiveness measurement, with clear KPIs that track adoption and maturity of IAM key controls enterprise wide.
  • Provide strategic IAM governance leadership and SME support, partnering with Product, Architecture, regional CISOs, and all lines of defense to align KPIs and methodologies, guide remediation of control gaps, and evolve governance as IAM platforms modernize.

  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Create an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Build a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.
  • Lead and drive a customer focused, practical, and secure, culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) required
  • 7+ years' experience in a Product Management (or equivalent) capacity required
  • 7+ years in an IAM Architect Role.
  • 8+ years' experience in Information Security or Information Technology
  • 10+ years working with IAM platforms
  • Previous exposure to Regulatory, Compliance, Risk and Audit functions
  • Experience developing and documenting IAM directives, standards and policies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills; can manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Experience in the information security industry and with security software products
  • Excellent understanding on financial principles of large enterprise organization
  • Experience in working with complex processes
  • Willing to learn and grow, and demonstrates resilience to ever-changing priorities
