The Team:

The Hermès Maison Madison Boutique opened in 1983 and focuses on providing extraordinary service to clients as a part of the New York Region. This position will report to the Managing Vice President and will work collaboratively with the leadership team, sales team and selling support teams to support the client experience in a fast-paced, luxury environment.

The Opportunity:

The Senior Floor Director is a key leadership position in the Global Flagship. This person is responsible for creating and driving the Maison's strategy through consistent team leadership, floor presence, and hands on Métier development, with balanced attention to all teams and floors. This position is responsible for achievement of Group Métier Sales volume and budget goals. They are responsible for preparation, participation and attendance at Podium and Preview buys bi-annually. The Senior Floor Director will hold budgetary and buying responsibilities, and partner and support in the buying process across gender and métier, to ensure the Maison is cohesive in product assortment and fluidity of selling.

About the Role:
  • Lead the development and execution of strategic plans for various metiers, ensuring alignment with overall boutique goals to drive growth, enhance customer experience, develop the team and achieve financial targets.
  • Serve as Maison Ambassador including day to day supervision of the daily business, client experience, and client relationship building, leading by example and ensuring excellent client service.
  • Consistent floor presence and partner to leadership team.
  • Manage Métier development, growth and merchandising for area of responsibility. Identify and address business opportunities, daily stock needs by floor, sell thrus, communicating timely with Managing Director, Operations Management team and Merchant team about opportunities, needs, and issues.
  • Manage min/max and product assortment at store level vs remote.
  • Fully responsible for bi-annual attendance and preparation for buy for corresponding areas of responsibility.
  • Partner in planning and execution of product placement, floor moves, pop up opportunities and ensures visual standards are met.
  • Team motivator and strategist. Strategic and analytical in approach to identifying and communicating business and product opportunities.
  • Prepare and provide budget analysis, sales mix, product assortment and business strategies to bring about incremental improvement in overall results.
  • Consistent communication with Managing Director and store management team.
  • Providing weekly reporting of sales, sell thrus, on hand quantities, product needs and opportunities and presenting business updates at Leadership meetings, including sales to plan by total group and area of responsibility, team highlights, issues and overall business review.
  • Responsible for recruitment, talent selection, onboarding and ongoing performance development of all employees on the team. Provide leadership and guidance to Floor Directors on Métier development opportunities, reporting tools, business analysis.
  • Plans weekly agendas for leadership and team meetings. Writes and delivers annual performance appraisals, and addresses all performance issues in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for timely preparation of inventories and cycle counts, including partnering with Floor Directors and Operations Team in the reconciliation of discrepancies.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Ability to represent Leadership of entire store in the absence of the Managing Director. Observant of support team, and Guard team productivity and adherence to policy. Ability to gain partnership on store needs and lead these teams although not direct reports.


Budget Responsibility:

  • P&L responsibility and responsibility for meeting sales and budget plan and adhering to payroll budget. Responsible for shrinkage and asset protection Company goals.


Decision Making Responsibility:
  • YES
  • Client Services, Policy interpretation, recommendation for hiring and promotions, buying decisions, and Merchandising efforts.


About You:
  • Minimum three years prior Store Management experience, or flagship Assistant Store Manager Experience
  • Previous buying experience relative to Floor responsibility
  • Individual Management of multi person teams
  • Prior reporting functions to Executive management and Merchant levels
  • Managing people and projects, a good team leader, and motivational mentor
  • Creativity within effective business management and growth
  • Detailed, diligent, thorough, reliable, effective time management skills are key to this position
  • Effective decision-making skills
  • Proficient at presentations, store meetings, Commercial Director and Executive visits
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint (preferred)
  • Comfortable with calculations and formulas
  • Need to be a critical and creative thinker
  • Even-tempered and ability to continuously multi-task
  • Managing stress and coaching through conflict when needed
  • Resolution on store issues by floor, and in total when manager on duty
  • Experience working with public and independently satisfy client requests
  • Prioritize tasks and communicate time sensitive information to appropriate parties
  • Keen eye to product and future trends needed for buying responsibility
  • Must be extremely professional and able to interact with all levels of management and the public.
  • Knowledge of French language helpful
  • Travel required, 3-5 weeks annually to Paris


The range for this position is $141,899 - $176,432. Actual rates are determined based on the job, location, and individual experience.
