You will lead a portfolio that includes a unique combination of corporate communications, business announcements, consumer public relations, proactive storytelling, earned media, and news bureau strategy. You'll partner with senior leaders across the firm to translate business priorities, innovations, market insights, and client-focused initiatives into compelling narratives that enhance reputation, build credibility, and strengthen awareness of Edward Jones' evolving value proposition.

Working closely with senior leaders and cross-functional partners, you'll identify opportunities to tell stories that matter, translate complex business initiatives into clear and compelling narratives, and generate earned media coverage that reinforces the firm's relevance and leadership in the marketplace.
This role combines strategic counsel, creative storytelling, media relations expertise, and operational leadership. You'll guide communications for major business priorities while developing proactive programs that connect Edward Jones to timely industry trends, consumer interests, and broader market conversations.
- Lead the vision, strategy, and execution of corporate communications, business announcements, consumer PR, media relations, and news bureau programs.
- Serve as a trusted communications advisor to senior leaders, providing counsel on reputation, visibility, and strategic communications opportunities.
- Develop integrated communications strategies that translate business priorities, capabilities, products, services, and innovations into compelling external narratives.
- Partner closely with business leaders to understand goals, challenges, and opportunities while aligning communications strategies to measurable business outcomes.
- Drive proactive earned media and consumer PR initiatives that strengthen reputation, increase awareness, and expand relevance with target audiences.
- Oversee the firm's news bureau strategy, identifying opportunities to position Edward Jones experts, insights, and perspectives in the conversations that matter most.
- Lead communications planning and execution for significant business announcements, milestones, investments, and enterprise initiatives.
- Identify emerging trends, issues, and opportunities that can help elevate the firm's voice and visibility.
- Collaborate across Marketing, Public Affairs, Social Media, Digital, Research, and business teams to deliver integrated communications programs.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team while fostering strategic thinking, innovation, accountability, and professional growth.
- Manage agency partnerships, budgets, and team resources to maximize impact and deliver measurable results.
- Contribute to broader External Affairs priorities by bringing an audience-focused, reputation-centered, and business-minded perspective to enterprise initiatives.
Position RequirementsWhat You'll Need:- 12+ years of experience in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, corporate communications or related fields.
- 6+ years of experience leading or coaching teams in large, complex, or highly matrixed organizations.
- Demonstrated success coaching, developing and leading high-performing teams, including building talent pipelines and fostering a culture of growth, accountability and collaboration.
- Demonstrated experience across internal and external communications, including executive-level counsel, media relations, corporate communications and enterprise storytelling.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing communications strategies that support business priorities, enterprise initiatives and reputation objectives.
- Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and instincts, particularly in high-profile, fast-moving, or ambiguous situations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with executive presence and confidence advising senior leaders and influencing diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to mobilize diverse stakeholders, align competing priorities, and drive action across complex organizations.
- Strong collaboration skills and a possibility mindset, with a track record of developing creative, innovative approaches to advancing reputation, relevance and earned visibility.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to identify emerging opportunities, connect communications to business objectives, and understand broader enterprise implications of communications decisions.
What Could Set You Apart:- 5+ years' experience leading and developing a team of elite communications professionals in a world class corporate communications environment and or marquee agency.
- Deep understanding of corporate communications, media relations, consumer PR and reputation management within financial services or other highly regulated industries.
- Established relationships across business, financial, consumer and trade media, with strong understanding of the evolving media landscape.
- Experience developing integrated earned media and PR activation campaigns that drive awareness, engagement and business outcomes.
- Agency and in-house experience with a versatile communications toolkit and demonstrated ability to support a broad range of business leaders, initiatives and channels.
