Job Summary
Goosehead Insurance is seeking a Senior Director of Enterprise Architecture with strong full-stack development and Salesforce experience to lead the company's architecture strategy and implementation. This role focuses on creating and maintaining architecture standards and roadmaps that enhance technical infrastructure, with a particular emphasis on service-oriented and event-driven architecture, ensuring alignment with business objectives. The ideal candidate will work with IT leadership and cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and performant architecture solutions spanning front-end, back-end, Salesforce, and cloud environments.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Architecture Strategy & Leadership (30%):
• Develop and implement a comprehensive enterprise architecture strategy that aligns with business goals
• Define and enforce architecture best practices, standards, conventions, and guidelines for technology practices definitions across diverse technology teams. These practices include software development with skill-assisted AI, data architecture, machine learning and Agentic AI
• Partner with senior leadership to evaluate technology trends and identify business opportunities that support the company's objectives and promote innovation across our portfolio and technology stack.

Solution Design and Governance (30%):
• Lead the enterprise architecture design and implementation of full-stack development of modern service APIs
• Lead the design and roadmap definition of the migration of mission-critical enterprise solutions, ensuring alignment with business requirements and technical standards for data, infrastructure, and application architecture. This includes integrations with key partners as well as internal and franchise-facing systems
• Establish governance frameworks for technology decisions that include business stakeholders, owning the non-functional system requirements across the technology portfolio
• Evaluate and recommend tools, platforms, and technologies to drive continuous improvement across the business
• Consider and design for regulatory, privacy, legal, and industry requirements in all solutions

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement (10%):
• Collaborate with IT, data, and security teams to align architectural solutions with the company's technology stack and security requirements
• Work with cross-functional leaders in product, engineering, and operations to understand business needs and translate them into effective, scalable technical solutions.
• Serve as a technical liaison, advocating for architectural principles and defining and promoting best practices across all departments.

Team Leadership & Development (10%):
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of enterprise architects and technical leads, with a focus on rigor, scalability, security, performance, availability, observability, and Agentic AI.
• Provide coaching and guidance on architectural best practices, project management, and service-oriented API development to enhance team capabilities.
• Recruit, train, and retain top talent, fostering a culture of innovation, growth, and high performance.
• Manage offshore resources with diligence

Innovation & Continuous Improvement (10%):
• Stay current with industry trends in AI and working with LLMs to create predictive models and generate code with human-in-the-loop process, machine learning cloud platforms, and architecture frameworks, ensuring Goosehead Insurance remains at the forefront of technology.
• Identify and implement new tools, technologies, and practices to maintain a cutting-edge architecture environment.
• Promote an architecture-centric culture across the technology organization and within the broader Goosehead business

Experience and Education
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 12+ years of experience in software engineering, software architecture, or enterprise architecture, including significant experience leading architecture for distributed, high-scale platforms.
• 10+ years of people leadership experience managing senior architects, principal engineers, or comparable senior technical individual contributors.
• Experience partnering with Product Management and Engineering leadership to define architecture strategy, roadmaps, and execution plans for complex product portfolios.
• Experience establishing architecture governance, decision frameworks, standards, and review processes that improve consistency and delivery quality across multiple teams.
• Excellent leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and organizational influencing skills.
• Background in insurance and high-regulation environments helpful but not required

Required Skills and Abilities
• Strong knowledge of modern cloud-native architecture, including Agentic AI frameworks and design, AI-assisted code generation, service-oriented APIs, event-driven architecture, CI/CD, SRE, resiliency patterns, observability, and security-by-design.
• Demonstrated ability to lead architectural direction for complex data-intensive and transaction-oriented systems with high requirements for performance, availability, and scale.
• Strong understanding of security, privacy, identity, integration, and data architecture patterns relevant to large-scale enterprise and product environments.
• Proven ability in portfolio management; evaluate tradeoffs across build/buy/customize/deprecate strategies and to communicate technical decisions effectively to executive, product, and engineering audiences.
