Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Senior Director -Defense Enterprise IT Modernization

 

The Senior Director will serve as a strategic leader and trusted advisor responsible for driving large-scale enterprise IT modernization initiatives across the Department of Defense (DoD), with a particular focus on the 4th Estate, OSD, and Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA)-aligned missions. This individual will bring extensive senior executive experience, deep domain expertise, and a proven ability to influence and guide Defense leadership on mission-critical technology priorities.

 

In this role, the Senior Director will provide strategic vision, technical leadership, and operational oversight to ensure the successful delivery of complex, high-impact programs supporting enterprise IT transformation. They will advise senior Defense leaders—including SES and Flag-level stakeholders—on modernization strategies spanning cloud adoption, cybersecurity, data integration, network transformation, and digital engineering.

 

The Senior Director will leverage a comprehensive understanding of the 4th Estate ecosystem, including defense agencies and field activities, to align technology solutions with mission outcomes, governance frameworks, and evolving policy directives. They will maintain deep familiarity with DISA’s portfolio, including enterprise services, transport and network modernization (e.g., zero trust, JWCC alignment, and global infrastructure), and ensure program execution is tightly aligned to DoD CIO priorities and enterprise architecture standards.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Serving as a senior advisor to government executives on enterprise IT modernization strategies, investment priorities, and implementation roadmaps.
  • Leading the design, integration, and delivery of scalable IT solutions across hybrid cloud, cyber, data, and network domains.
  • Driving alignment with DISA-led enterprise services, including cloud, identity and access management, transport, and unified communications.
  • Providing thought leadership on emerging technologies and their application to Defense missions, including AI/ML, zero trust architecture, and digital engineering.
  • Overseeing program execution to ensure delivery excellence, risk management, and mission impact across large, complex contracts.
  • Cultivating relationships across the 4th Estate, Combatant Commands, and key stakeholders to identify opportunities and shape future mission needs.

 

This role is critical to ensuring Peraton delivers mission-aligned, innovative, and scalable solutions that advance the Department’s enterprise IT modernization objectives and strengthen national security outcomes.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • 18 years of progressive leadership experience in DoD enterprise IT, with significant engagement across the 4th Estate and DISA.
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Able to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
  • Prior Senior Executive Service (SES), General/Flag Officer, or equivalent industry leadership experience supporting Defense missions.
  • Deep expertise in enterprise IT modernization, including cloud migration, cybersecurity, network transformation, and data strategy.
  • Proven ability to influence and advise senior government leaders on strategic and technical priorities.
  • Strong understanding of DoD governance, acquisition processes, and enterprise architecture frameworks.
Target Salary Range$190,000 - $304,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individuals experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
