Job Description

About the role

The Senior Director, CXP Strategy & Execution is responsible for the strategy across our Customer Experience Platform (CXP) portfolio, which spans CRM, customer data, marketing, and AI-driven consumer engagement. This leader defines how these areas connect to one another and to the broader platform strategy.

An early priority is to shape and realize the strategic value of the portfolio as new and existing capabilities are brought together. For opportunities that sit within the CXP, this leader owns the strategy and the plan to realize it. For adjacent opportunities owned by other business leaders, the role serves as a strategic thought partner, staying close to the work, validating the approach, and keeping leadership informed on progress and the value created.

This is a leadership role rather than a project management role. It requires strong general management judgment and a leader who is equally effective setting long-range strategy and engaging in the operational detail required to move it forward. The role develops the business cases the organization relies on and rigorously evaluates proposals to ensure they are sound, working credibly across financial analysis, go-to-market planning, and cross-functional working sessions.

Over time, CXP strategy becomes the central focus of the role: a clear vision for where CRM, customer data, marketing, and AI-driven consumer engagement are headed, how they align with the platform, and the commercial strategy that brings them to market.

What you'll do

Own CXP portfolio strategy
  • Define and own the strategy for the full CXP portfolio, including how the components fit together and how responsibilities are delineated across them.
  • Establish how CXP strategy aligns with platform strategy and with CRM strategy, and resolve areas of overlap across the portfolio.
  • Develop the business cases that underpin the strategy, and rigorously evaluate and challenge proposals to ensure they are sound, regardless of their source.
  • Own the commercial and go-to-market strategy, partnering with marketing, sales, and product to ensure strategies translate into results in market.

Lead near-term value creation
  • Own the intake and prioritization of strategic initiatives, focusing resources and effort on the opportunities that carry the greatest value.
  • For initiatives within the CXP, own the strategy and the plan to realize it, including the associated decisions, dependencies, and sequencing.
  • For initiatives owned by other leaders, serve as a strategic thought partner: staying close to the work, validating the approach, and helping ensure recommendations are sound and progressing.
  • Provide ongoing strategic guidance and course correction as initiatives progress.
  • Provide leadership with a clear, objective assessment of progress, risks, and anticipated outcomes.

How you'll operate
  • Serve as a strategic partner to the VP, Digital Commerce Operations across CXP and portfolio strategy, operating with clearly defined decision rights.
  • Lead and align cross-functional and partner teams toward a common strategy through influence in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Partner with program management resources so the role remains focused on strategy rather than administrative tracking.

Who you are

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 12 or more years of relevant experience, including at least 7 years in a leadership role. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 10 years of experience; a Ph.D. and 7 years of experience; or 16 years of experience in a related field in lieu of a degree.
  • 7+ years leading enterprise-scale strategic initiatives.
  • A proven strategy and general management leader who operates credibly across financial analysis, go-to-market planning, and cross-functional execution.
  • Deep expertise in one or more CXP domains: CRM, customer data, marketing technology, and AI-driven consumer engagement.
  • Strong command of business-case development, with the financial acumen to validate and challenge the assumptions that underpin it.
  • A demonstrated ability to influence and drive decisions across teams without direct authority in complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Executive presence and strong communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex, cross-functional work into a clear narrative for senior leaders.
  • Effectiveness in a fast-paced, evolving environment, with a willingness to engage directly in execution when required.

Preferred
  • The ideal candidate has a strategy or management consulting background and has since transitioned successfully into a business or operating role.
  • Experience in automotive retail technology or software, with familiarity with dealership software, marketing, or data platforms.
  • Experience with corporate strategy, business integration, or realizing value from investments and acquisitions.
  • Prior general management or P&L responsibility.
  • MBA or other advanced degree.
