Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Developer to lead a cross-functional software engineering squad responsible for developing, enhancing, and maintaining modern web applications that support Bentley's infrastructure and engineering products. The successful candidate will help evolve an internal platform used by our global software organization to assess, govern, and improve release readiness, software quality, and security compliance throughout the development lifecycle.

This role requires strong hands-on expertise in React-based frontend development, cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure, and CI/CD practices using Azure DevOps. As Lead Senior Developer, you will provide hands-on technical leadership, delivery ownership, and team coordination for a platform that gives product teams centralized visibility into engineering health, software delivery quality, security posture, and release compliance. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys building modern, user-centric web applications at scale while shaping engineering practices, platform standards, and delivery culture, working with global, cross-functional teams across product, architecture, security, release, and operational disciplines to help teams release software with greater confidence.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the squad's technical direction, implementation strategy, architecture, design decisions, and engineering standards.
  • Build scalable, production-grade front-end applications using React, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as C# and ASP.Net Core Application patterns, with a focus on maintainability, accessibility, and performance.
  • Deep knowledge of REST and GraphQL APIs, including API and MCP design, security, versioning, performance optimization and integration with external enterprise services.
  • Review technical solutions, mentor engineers, and promote maintainable, scalable and reliable system design.
  • Drive best practices across software development, testing, automation, observability, security and operational excellence.
  • Facilitate sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to achieve agreed objectives, priorities, and measurable commitments.
  • Identify delivery risks, technical dependencies, and blockers, and drive timely resolution.
  • Coordinate with other squad leaders, product teams and operational stakeholders to support successful cross-team delivery.
  • Ensure development activities meet security, compliance, and governance requirements.
  • Identify opportunities where emerging technologies can create measurable business value, reduce technical debt, eliminate manual processes, and improve the developer experience.
  • Use observability, operational metrics, and continuous improvement to support data-driven decision making.
  • Support incident management, production investigations, and root cause analysis when required.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Strong software architecture and system design experience.
  • Experience with modern cloud-native architectures and distributed systems.
  • Experience with software delivery platforms including Azure DevOps (ADO) and GitHub.
  • Experience working in Agile software delivery environments.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and drive technical excellence.
  • Experience delivering high-quality software in environments with security, compliance, or governance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building developer platforms or engineering productivity solutions.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and release automation.
  • Experience with software quality, compliance, governance, or security tooling.
