Senior Dev - Java, Python & Microservices

Cognizant's Digital Engineering practice is seeking a highly qualified Senior Dev- Java, Python & Microservices (Hybrid) with 8+ year of experience developing and building high-performing, scalable, enterprise applications. You will be part of a digital software team that works on high-demand applications. Our engineers have a passion for high-quality, reliable and maintainable code. You will work side by side with product managers, designers, and clients, making decisions together to quickly deliver valuable working software to clients and their users. Our engineers are agile and retrospective, and not afraid to identify what we're doing wrong, so we can fix it, and what we're doing right, so we can improve on it. Above all, we judge success by the success of our team and the happiness of our customers.

Location: Mount Laurel - NJ (Hybrid)

Responsibilities:

Core Backend Engineering:
• Strong experience in Java and Python development
• Expertise in building scalable microservices and REST APIs
• Knowledge of distributed systems and enterprise architecture patterns

AI / LLM Integration:
• Experience integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) into backend services
• Proficiency in prompt engineering, inference optimization, and response quality tuning
• Understanding of responsible AI practices and model governance

Payments & Domain Expertise:
• Familiarity with digital payments, cards, or financial services workflows
• Experience enhancing customer journeys and transaction processes using AI

Security & Compliance:
• Strong understanding of secure coding practices and data protection
• Experience with regulatory compliance and risk-aware system design

DevOps & Quality Engineering:
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and hybrid environments
• Strong knowledge of testing strategies (unit, integration, non-functional)
• Familiarity with observability, monitoring, and performance tuning

Collaboration & Leadership:
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid and cross-functional environment
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Experience mentoring teams and promoting engineering best practices

Qualifications:
• Focuses on designing and implementing secure, scalable enterprise solutions

Salary and Other Compensation:

Applications will be accepted until July 10th, 2026.

The annual salary for this position is between $ 81,337 $ to 163,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
