Full Job Description
Position Summary:

The Senior Designer (Placemaking) coordinates the development of design and presentation documents, with an emphasis on helping the team ideate and document the design goals for each project. Designers are expected to formulate designs that are conducive to the project's intended purposes and scale. Each Senior Designer provides the project team with recommendations, which requires independent judgment in evaluation and of building materials, colors, fixtures, etc. All Senior Designers are expected to identify and help solve problems encountered independently, or with guidance from senior team members for more complex issues.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate research efforts as needed in support of design goals
  • Create functional and aesthetically pleasing retail spaces by blending brand identity, customer experience, and efficient store layouts aligned with Client's vision
  • Use graphic design software and physical modeling tools to produce design exhibits, such as renderings, presentation packages, and models to convey design goals at various stages of the project schedule
  • Provide verbal presentations of design progress.
  • Coordinates and executes routine discipline tasks including diagramming, modeling, detailing, material research and specifications, and drafting.
  • Understand and use current company CAD/Revit standards and procedures in the production of design and design development drawings and exhibits and help teach these standards to Designers and Interns.
  • Facilitate design coordination processes between RDC-S111 and clients, governmental agencies, tenants, and consultants.

Senior Designers will be evaluated based on all of the items in this document as they apply to their specific role. The following items represent the primary performance benchmarks that the company will be measuring and the tools that will be used to provide input.

  • Ability to communicate design concepts in drawing, writing, and live presentation.

  • Ability to complete tasks efficiently and within agreed upon schedule.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture from an accredited program preferred.
  • 5 or more years of multi-family, mixed use or retail experience focused on design development and documentation.
  • Knowledge of architectural design, development and construction documents.
  • Understanding of architectural design, site planning, design development and graphic presentation.
  • Proficiency in SketchUp and AutoCAD/Revit (latest version) and other graphic and business software and their application in developing and presenting design documents.
  • Effective English communication skills, conversational and written, for ongoing project collaboration and documentation.
