Full Job Description
GFT is seeking a Vertical Transportation Designer. In this role, you will play a critical part in shaping and improving vertical transportation systems through thoughtful design coordination and integration into complex building environments.

This can be a fully remote position and we will consider applicants anywhere within the United States.

What you'll be challenged to do:

We are thrilled to offer a rewarding position that involves working on cutting-edge vertical transportation projects. As a BIM / Revit Designer in the Vertical Transportation group, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Project Managers and Technical Center Manager, contributing your expertise to multiple projects simultaneously. What makes this opportunity even more enticing is that it can be a fully remote position, making it accessible to applicants from anywhere within the United States.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Produce drawings, layouts as needed and offer technical solutions to the Vertical Transportation Design Team.
  • Generate various BIM deliverables to clients, including modeling and detailing for project documents for the project teams.
  • Assist project managers with model presentation for project teams and client meetings.
  • Complete Revit Project Setup.
  • Download, review, and understand design drawings and models to accurately design and coordinate vertical transportation designs. Communicate design changes and issues with the Project Manager and the Design Team.
  • Responsible for assigned projects with the ability to meet deadlines, budgets, and prioritize assignments while maintain quality standards and accuracy.
  • Collaborate on multi-discipline, multi-company projects.
  • Provide layouts of vertical transportation including passenger and freight elevators - hydraulic and traction types, escalators, moving walks with supervision from the Technical Center Manager and Project Managers.
  • Ability to take direction and participate in quality reviews of work product.
  • Determine and document vertical transportation technical data such as dimensions, structural loading, electrical requirements, and equipment heat output.
  • Research elevator, building, and applicable codes.
  • Generate and improve on growing library of Revit families.


What you'll bring to our firm:
  • Associates / Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in BIM/Revit, AutoCAD.
  • Experience in architectural and/or engineering drafting.
  • Familiarity with architectural, mechanical, and/or electrical engineering design.
  • The ability to read design blueprints.
  • BIM Tasks add family editing, expanded modeling skills, understanding of BIM Workflows and project setup.
  • Experience with Revit/CAD file integration into a project.
  • Adhere to project execution plans and workflow criteria.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Adobe Acrobat, and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Experience with Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes a plus.
  • Experience at a firm with an ISO 9001 Certified Quality Management System is highly desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $93,000 - $114,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
