About The Role

We're seeking a seasoned, hands-on Data Product Owner to embed with a strategic client in financial services, as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical data engineering teams. You'll own the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of data products that power critical client-facing and investment management functions, balancing strategic thinking with meticulous execution across data quality and governance.
What You'll Do
  • Product Ownership & Roadmap: Own the end-to-end lifecycle of core enterprise data products - Client Master, Transaction Master, Product Master, and other foundational datasets - maintaining a prioritized roadmap, detailed backlogs, and clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and KPIs
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with Sales, Finance, Operations, the Enterprise Data Office, and Engineering to surface data needs; run discovery workshops and interviews to define the right problem before designing solutions
  • Data Analysis & Quality: Perform hands-on dataset profiling, anomaly identification, and lineage validation across large, complex financial datasets; define and enforce data quality and governance standards
  • Executive Communication: Present roadmaps, business cases, and updates to senior leadership; manage stakeholder expectations and communicate trade-offs, building trusted relationships at all levels
  • Cross-Functional Delivery: Manage dependencies, risks, and blockers across workstreams; evaluate data tools and vendors; champion data literacy so business teams understand and trust their data
What We Need

Required:
  • 8-10 years in data product management or ownership within financial services; background in asset or wealth management strongly preferred
  • Proven track record owning and delivering multiple data products simultaneously, including end-to-end data transformation programs
  • Strong hands-on data analysis and querying skills across large enterprise platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of data governance, data quality management, metadata management, and data lineage practices
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data concepts for senior and executive audiences
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; able to manage competing priorities independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency with product/project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, or equivalent
  • Ability to work onsite at our NYC office 3+ days per week

Nice-to-have:
  • Direct domain expertise in asset or wealth management data - portfolio and position data, investor reporting, AUM & flows, trade and settlement data
  • Experience leveraging AI tools - generative AI assistants, LLM-based workflows, or AI-powered analytics
  • Experience evaluating and managing third-party data vendors
