Full Job Description
BasisPath is seeking a highly motivated Senior Data Engineer to support mission-critical data acquisition, processing, integration, and exploitation efforts. The successful candidate will architect and maintain scalable data platforms capable of ingesting, transforming, and analyzing operational datasets in support of government customers.

This position requires strong experience with cloud-based data environments, distributed processing technologies, enterprise data management, and software development. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment where technical innovation directly supports operational objectives.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-scale data ingestion, processing, and analytics pipelines.
  • Architect cloud-native and hybrid data solutions supporting large-scale data exploitation activities.
  • Build and optimize automated workflows for data collection, transformation, normalization, enrichment, and delivery.
  • Integrate structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data from multiple sources.
  • Implement scalable storage, indexing, search, and retrieval capabilities.
  • Develop software tools and automation capabilities supporting mission operations and data analysis.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of emerging technologies and recommend solutions to improve data exploitation capabilities.
  • Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and government stakeholders to develop technical approaches and concepts of operation.
  • Support deployment, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of data platforms in secure environments.


Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • You must be able to commute to the area.
  • U.S. citizen
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance
  • Experience supporting Intelligence Community (IC), Department of Defense (DoD), or other federal government programs.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-scale data integration architectures, including automated data ingestion, transformation, normalization, orchestration, and delivery pipelines.
  • Experience working with cloud computing platforms and cloud-based data management solutions, including AWS.
  • Experience with distributed computing frameworks and big data technologies.
  • Experience with Apache Kafka, Presto, or similar distributed data processing technologies.
  • Experience with Apache NiFi (Niagara Files) for enterprise data flow management.
  • Experience developing software applications using Java, Python, and/or Perl.
  • Experience with Linux administration and Windows operating environments.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with enterprise data management platforms.
  • Experience processing and managing large-scale datasets.
  • Experience conducting technical assessments and recommending technology solutions.
  • Strong understanding of data engineering principles, data governance, and scalable architecture design.


Preferred Qualifications and Characteristics:

  • Experience working within classified computing environments.
  • Knowledge of encryption technologies, cryptographic concepts, and secure data handling practices.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to translate mission requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in dynamic, high-priority environments.
