Job DescriptionTHE POSITION: The Senior D365 Business Analyst is a senior functional leader and subject matter expert for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O), with a primary focus on Project Management & Accounting (PMA).This role partners with Finance, Project Accounting, Operations, and technology teams to translate business requirements into scalable D365 solutions. The position leads functional design, configuration, testing, UAT, upgrades, and production support while driving continuous improvement and maximizing the value of the ERP platform.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Serve as the senior functional SME for D365 Project Management & Accounting, providing guidance on functionality, configuration, and best practices.
- Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements, assess processes, identify gaps, and design scalable solutions using standard D365 functionality wherever possible.
- Lead end-to-end project accounting processes, including project setup, contracts, funding, budgets, costing, time and expense, billing, revenue recognition, WIP, invoicing, and project close.
- Ensure effective integration of PMA with General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Procurement, reporting, and other business processes.
- Support complex project financial requirements including funding rules, billing, posting profiles, project categories, pricing, allocations, and financial dimensions.
- Lead functional solution design and configuration, and develop functional requirements for integrations, workflows, reports, and system enhancements.
- Partner with developers, architects, data teams, and external service providers to ensure solutions meet business requirements and D365 best practices.
- Provide senior-level production support, including issue triage, root cause analysis, configuration and data investigation, and resolution of complex functional issues.
- Lead SIT, regression testing, integration testing, and UAT, including test planning, defect management, validation, and business sign-off.
- Support D365 upgrades, releases, and new functionality, assessing business impacts and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Partner with data and reporting teams to ensure project financial data is accurate, consistent, and fit for downstream reporting and analytics.
- Maintain functional documentation, process maps, SOPs, and knowledge materials while supporting governance and change management.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, controls, automation, data quality, and user experience.
- Act as a trusted advisor and escalation point for Finance, Project Accounting, Operations, and other stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to other Business Analysts and functional team members.

QualificationsMINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:The requirements listed below are representative of the experience, education, knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.
- 10+ years of experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
- Strong hands-on expertise with D365 Project Management & Accounting (PMA) is required.
- Strong understanding of project accounting and integration with core Finance processes.
- Demonstrated experience in functional analysis, requirements gathering, solution design, configuration, testing, UAT, and production support.
- Strong knowledge of Finance processes including GL, AR, AP, and financial dimensions.
- Experience with integrations, reporting, data, and downstream systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working with external implementation or managed service partners is an asset.
