Description

Tharros is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer specializing in Cybersecurity Systems to support NSWCDD in Dahlgren, VA. These engineers provide senior-level Cybersecurity systems engineering expertise for weapon control systems and surface combat, control, and situational awareness systems throughout the full system lifecycle.

The position requires a strong understanding of cybersecurity systems engineering, system security architecture, risk management, configuration management, technical documentation, security assessment and authorization processes, and the operational environments in which complex mission and information systems are deployed. Projects include cybersecurity engineering support across the system lifecycle, including security requirements development, risk and vulnerability assessment, RMF implementation, system hardening, security controls integration, configuration and change management, and cybersecurity compliance for mission-critical systems and supporting infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Lead cybersecurity systems engineering across the total system lifecycle for Navy weapon, combat, and fire control systems, including development, modernization, integration, certification, and deployment.
  • Translate operational, mission, and system requirements into cybersecurity requirements, security architectures, system security specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Lead and support Navy/DoD security certification and authorization activities, including RMF, PIT cybersecurity processes, DIACAP/predecessor frameworks, and applicable DoD and Navy cybersecurity requirements.
  • Engineer and integrate security controls and cybersecurity capabilities into mission-system architectures, including GOTS, COTS, and interconnected technologies.
  • Assess system modifications, interfaces, engineering changes, and ECPs for cybersecurity risk, vulnerabilities, security control impacts, and mission assurance considerations.
  • Conduct and support risk assessments, technical trade studies, vulnerability analysis, security engineering assessments, cybersecurity testing, verification and validation, shipboard integration, and fleet deployment activities.
  • Participate in technical design reviews, configuration control boards, cybersecurity working groups, risk reviews, and certification/authorization activities, providing cybersecurity engineering expertise to program and technical stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with engineering, cybersecurity, program leadership, and government stakeholders to ensure cybersecurity is incorporated into system design and engineering decisions.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers supporting cybersecurity, systems engineering, RMF, and mission-system security activities.


Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI
  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering, scientific, cybersecurity, computer science, or related technical discipline with at least eight (8) years of relevant experience; or ten (10) years of demonstrated subject matter expertise in applicable technical disciplines.
  • CISSP certification meeting applicable DoD 8140.03 workforce qualification requirements.
  • 5+ years of experience leading systems engineering and/or mission engineering efforts for software-intensive systems, including requirements development, top-level system design, and system architecture.
  • 8+ years of professional systems/cybersecurity engineering experience, including specialized experience supporting Navy/DoD security certification and authorization of major weapon, combat, and/or fire control systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of DoD/Navy cybersecurity requirements, RMF, PIT cybersecurity processes, security controls, vulnerability and risk management, configuration management, cybersecurity testing, and mission-system security engineering.
