Job Description Summary:

Primary responsibilities of the role include handling a variety of legal work related to the company's core business, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, and other legal documents for corporate use, as well as providing advice to management and project teams on legal rights, obligations and privileges of the corporation. Trusted and strategic partner to other Departments and Operations within the organization.

Job Description:

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide strategic legal and business advice to the partner operating groups as it relates to given discipline
  • Review, draft and negotiate a wide variety of contracts, including complex construction agreements
  • Draft and review responses to Requests for Qualifications and Proposals
  • Represent the company in meetings with outside parties, including participating in the resolution of highly complex or sensitive legal issues
  • Oversee and perform certain discovery efforts
  • Provide training for company personnel
  • Stay current on legal trends and best practices as it relates to applicable law, and communicate relevant developments as it relates to given discipline
  • Collaborate and manage outside counsel and consultants
  • Perform advanced legal research
  • Oversee non-attorney team members, as assigned
  • Complete other responsibilities, as assigned

MINIMUM SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:      

  • Law degree from an accredited law school, and member in good standing of any of the following states: CA, CO, GA, NC, NY, OR, TX or WA
  • 6+ years of experience with a law firm or 4+ years of combined experience with a law firm and in-house
  • Knowledge of construction law, construction process, methodology and documents
  • Knowledge of corporate governance principles
  • Possess unquestionable ethics and integrity
  • Superior analytical skills, problem-solving, interpersonal skills and negotiation skills
  • Leadership and management ability
  • Preference of cross-functional collaboration skills and cross-functional understanding of other organizational departments
  • Ability to travel on a regular basis
