As a
SeniorCorporate Buyer, is a strategic procurement professional responsible for sourcing, supplier management, and category leadership across multiple manufacturing facilities. This role ensures the reliable procurement of packaging, ingredients, operating supplies, and services while driving cost savings, supply continuity, risk mitigation, and operational efficiency.
Partnering with Supply Chain, Operations, Marketing, R&D, Finance, and Quality teams, the Senior Corporate Buyer leads sourcing initiatives, negotiates supplier agreements, supports new product launches, and develops procurement strategies that align with business objectives and supports long-term growth.
The Senior Corporate Buyer also providesday-to-day functional leadership, coaching, training, and work direction to Buyers and procurement support staff. Delegate assignments, review work quality, share best practices, support employee development, and serve as an escalation point for complex purchasing issues to ensure effective procurement operations and team performance.

- Participate in Strategic Planning: Partner with Marketing, Operations, R&D, Finance, and Supply Chain leadership to support business strategy, provide market and supplier insights, identify risks and opportunities, and influence sourcing and category management decisions that align with organizational objectives.
- Make Informed Business Decisions: Exercise sound judgment and strategic decision-making to balance cost, quality, service, inventory, and risk while ensuring continuity of supply, operational efficiency, and achievement of business goals.
- Manage Product Line Needs: Lead procurement and supply strategies for assigned product lines across multiple facilities, ensuring material availability, optimizing inventory levels, supporting business growth, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Control Redundant and Obsolete Materials: Develop and execute inventory optimization strategies by identifying, analyzing, and reducing excess, slow-moving, and obsolete materials to improve inventory turns, minimize waste, and enhance working capital performance.
- Support Sourcing Activities: Lead strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier selection, contract negotiations, supplier onboarding, and performance management activities. Serve as the primary liaison between suppliers and internal stakeholders while resolving supply, quality, and service issues and driving cost savings and value creation opportunities.
- Serve as SAP Gatekeeper: Act as the subject matter expert for SAP procurement processes and provide leadership support for SAP, DSP, MRP, and packaging-related systems. Ensure data integrity, process compliance, and continuous improvement of procurement systems and workflows.
- Maintain Product Playbooks: Develop, maintain, and continuously improve product and category playbooks to support procurement strategies, supplier management, product lifecycle activities, and organizational knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate on Product Development: Partner with Marketing, R&D, Quality, and Operations to support new product development, commercialization, reformulations, packaging changes, and product lifecycle management while ensuring sourcing readiness and supply continuity.
- Facilitate Communication: Lead cross-functional meetings, supplier reviews, and project discussions; communicate key business updates, drive accountability for action items, and ensure alignment among stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
- Analyze Inventory Performance: Monitor and analyze inventory, procurement, and supplier performance metrics, including inventory turns and service levels, to identify trends, recommend improvements, and support operational and financial targets.
- Manage Packaging Projects: Lead complex packaging and supplier-related projects from concept through implementation, coordinating cross-functional resources to achieve cost, quality, timeline, sustainability, and operational goals.
- Leadership: Drives a positive employee experience through leadership by way of employee coaching.
WHAT WE'RE SEEKING:

• Education & Experience: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 5+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.• Communication Skills: Capable of communicating and expressing ideas clearly and concisely, in both written and verbal formats.• Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) or MRP (Material Requirement Planning) systems, and general business software.
• Organizational Skills: Strong planning, organization, and execution abilities.
• Negotiation Skills: Demonstrated strength in negotiating with suppliers and stakeholders.
• Travel Flexibility: Willingness and ability to travel up to 20%.

The expected pay range for this position is $75,000 - $110,000 annually.
Smithfield Foods provides pay ranges that reflect its good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage the company reasonably expects to pay for a position at the time of hire. Individual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, location of the position, the candidate's qualifications and experience, internal equity, external market pay for comparable positions and budget considerations.
