Description

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced Buyer to procure materials, electronic components, printed circuit boards and assemblies (PCBs/PCAs), services, as well as manage subcontracted work supporting production and engineering programs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES
  • Order and plan the procurement of parts using an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, delivery schedules, and contractual provisions.
  • Manage material requirements.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of ERP data, including bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Manage suppliers to reduce costs, improve quality, control inventory, and ensure timely flow of materials.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, program management, manufacturing, and finance teams to meet program objectives.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with material shortages, supplier capacity constraints, and end-of-life (EOL) or obsolete components.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for direct and indirect materials.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities, capacity, quality performance, and financial stability.
  • Identify alternate sources to mitigate supply chain risks.
  • Lead supplier selection activities and competitive bidding processes.
  • Issue and manage purchase orders and subcontracts.
  • Resolve shortages, quality concerns, and supplier escalations.
  • Support new product introductions and engineering development projects.
  • Conduct supplier performance reviews.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
  • Develop and execute material lifecycle strategies, including last-time buys, alternate sourcing, redesign support, and inventory planning.
  • Collaborate with engineering, program management, and suppliers to identify replacement parts and maintain compliance with contract and technical requirements.


Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • 5+ years of supply chain and procurement experience, ideally within the electronics or high-tech manufacturing industry
  • Associate degree or higher preferred
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated teamwork and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Knowledge of materials management and supply chain fundamentals
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and with limited supervision
  • Certified Procurement Professional (CPP) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification is a plus
  • Knowledge of government property requirements, contract flow-down clauses, the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and subcontract administration
  • Ability to interpret contracts and technical drawings
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience supporting engineering development and prototype builds
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and inventory management software
  • Experience with Epicor Kinetic preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and support cross-functional responsibilities
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to federal contract requirements
