About the role:We're looking for a Senior Corporate Accountant to join our growing Accounting team in Austin, TX. You'll report to the Sr. Director, Assistant Controller, and take ownership of accurate, on-time financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards across the business. You'll partner closely with FP&A, external auditors, and lenders, and you'll have real input into how the team uses AI to work smarter, not just faster.
What you'll do:- Lead the yearly external audit process, managing PBC requests, documentation, and financial statement footnotes
- Research complex accounting issues and draft technical accounting memos and internal policies
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, and consolidate results across business units
- Deliver required lender financial statement and covenant reporting on schedule • Partner with the Assistant Controller and FP&A to explain and resolve P&L variances each month
- Build and maintain complex Excel and system schedules, and document internal controls with an eye toward improvement
- Use AI tools like Claude and Gemini to automate recurring reporting, reconciliations, and technical research
- Lead process improvement efforts and special projects across the accounting function
About you:- 6+ years of accounting experience, ideally a mix of public and industry accounting
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience; CPA a plus
- Comprehensive understanding of GAAP, with experience researching technical accounting questions
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with system integrations
- Experience with Workday strongly preferred
- Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills, with a can-do, resourceful approach to problem-solving
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where priorities shift
- Demonstrated experience leveraging AI tools and technologies to improve workflows, enhance decision-making, or drive innovation
- Based in Austin, TX (hybrid).
Additional InformationThe annual salary range for this position is $90,000 to $120,000. The salary range for performing this role outside of the US / Austin / California may differ. 8am is committed to offering competitive, fair and commensurate compensation and has provided an estimated pay range for this role. Actual compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and education.
