Context & Environment

The Senior Control Systems Specialist performs all activities required to develop, enhance, support, and ensure availability and reliability of the EC process control systems, safety shutdown systems, and inventory management systems. Must perform specification, pre-installation design and testing, installation, implementation, loop checking, and maintenance of process control and office administration systems, as well as continuous support of large user base and quick/efficient resolution of malfunctions. Required to interface with all levels of Employees while providing support. Interacts with/acts as liaison to vendors' technical support staffs to identify/implement solutions to hardware and software problems. Must prioritize based on volume, business needs and economic justification. Workload is continuous and subject to interruptions due to equipment failure, which directly affects operational profits/losses and often personal safety. Decisions often must be made in emergency situations based solely on trouble symptoms and personal technical knowledge. Performance is evaluated by mean time between failure and ability to repair equipment they are responsible for. Required to study/recognize potential new uses of process and information technology to enhance profitability and safety of the site.

Activities

Activities:

-Apply MOC process for capital projects and facility changes.

-Maintain control system documentation, architecture, and asset inventory.

-Provide QA/QC and commissioning for new installations of DCS, PLC, SIS hardware and instruments.

-Review drawings for compliance with engineering standards.

-Participate in FAT and SAT testing.

-Conduct SIF validation testing.

-Collaborate with IT, OT, and other departments as needed.

Candidate Profile

Requirements:

-High School Diploma or equivalent with 10+ years experience in industrial control systems or experience as an industrial instrumentation/electrical technician role in Oil & Gas, Refining, Petrochemical, Power Generation, Manufacturing, or Process Automation; OR

Associate's Degree with 5+ years related experience; OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years related experience (preferred).
