Full Job Description
The position at a glance This role supports the BNP Paribas mission by developing and implementing a robust accounting control framework for both Banking and non-Banking entities. The position aims to ensure strict compliance with Group and CIB Head Office control guidelines while adapting to an ever-changing control environment. By providing value-added analysis and advisory services, the role works closely with Finance, Tax, and other CIB North America functions to safeguard the integrity of the control framework. The Finance control group (FCG) Department is a transversal function within CIB Finance whose primary roles are: • To develop and implement a strong accounting control framework for CIB Banking and non-Banking entities (such as Broker/Dealers entities); • To perform 2nd level of controls for controls primary run by other Finance and non-Finance teams; • To report on main controls areas, for both local and central needs and requirements; In detail The Senior Control Reviewer develops the accounting Control Framework by issuing new controls procedures and getting them implemented and enforced by other Departments, in Finance and outside Finance. The candidate will: • Develop the accounting control framework by issuing new control procedures to be implemented and enforced by various departments. • Supervise the collection and analysis of account reconciliations at the end of each accounting period to ensure financial accuracy. • Oversee SMS Oversight results regarding automated GL reconciliation tools to maintain high standards of back-office control. • Coordinate with Finance and non-Finance departments to resolve reconciliation-related issues through collaborative problem-solving. • Escalate main control findings through standardized summary reporting and dashboards to provide visibility to local and central management. • Observe and adopt BNPP accounting control policies and procedures to ensure local alignment with central changes. • Organize a consistent and accurate local framework for reconciliation tools and control processes to strengthen the control environment. • Co-supervise the transversal accounting controls repository tool, Beacon, to optimize its usage across the organization. • Investigate detailed control issues as requested by the Accounting Control Manager to finalize and implement improved control guidelines. • Manage regular meetings and relationships with key departments to maintain strong control perspectives. • Supervise the implementation of the Write-Off policy and the distribution of related reports to ensure regulatory compliance. • Review quarterly Head Office reporting and monthly sensitive accounts analysis to mitigate financial risks. The strengths and skills that will help you succeed • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field. • The knowledge of English is required. * • Minimum 5 years of experience in external audit of banking and capital markets companies or in internal audit. • Reasoned ability to perform detailed analysis and investigations to resolve control issues. • Responsible management of regular meetings and departmental relationships to ensure control alignment. • Committed approach to observing accounting control policies and procedures. • Collaborative process development to adapt and improve existing control frameworks. • High level of communication skills to present complex topics to key stakeholders. • Practical knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP to ensure compliance with accounting standards. • Practical application of normative control requirements including Accounting, Performance Management, and Valuation. • Advanced technical skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access, to support reporting duties. • Proficient use of Power BI and Power Query to enhance data analysis and reporting efficiency. • Given the vast majority of our clients, both internal and external, are based outside of Quebec and Canada, specific language requirements may apply.
