Senior Contracts Specialist
Location: Vancouver, BC, Canada

Role OverviewThe Senior Contracts Specialist will play a key leadership role in supporting the HVC 10 project Team by being responsible for the full contracting lifecycle and providing mentorship to the Contracts Specialist. This role requires strategic thinking, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to handle complex contract processes while mentoring junior team members. The Senior Specialist will work closely with project teams, shared services, and external stakeholders to ensure effective contract execution and administration.
Key Responsibilities- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
- Supervise and mentor the Contracts Specialist, providing direction, support, and quality assurance across contract activities.
- Act as a key point of contact for contract-related matters within the HVC Sustaining team.
- Collaborate with the Contracts Lead to develop and recommend contract strategies, including compensation models and market approaches.
- Lead the creation and maintenance of contract risk registers and implement mitigation strategies.
- Manage end-to-end contracting processes including RFP planning, proposal evaluation, negotiation, award recommendation, contract execution, administration, and closeout.
- Ensure compliance with legal, commercial, and technical standards throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Oversee contract administration including invoice reconciliation, dispute resolution, change management, and performance monitoring.
- Ensure contract modifications are accurately documented and approved.
- Provide proactive guidance to Project Managers and teams on contract strategies and risk mitigation.
- Liaise with legal, risk, customs, and trade compliance teams to ensure alignment with corporate policies.
- Develop and maintain contract management policies, procedures, and templates for the Project Development group.
- Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis for management as required.
Qualifications- Minimum of 8 years of experience in Contracts & Procurement roles within projects (mining, infrastructure, or energy)
- Expertise in contracting strategies and delivery models (EPC, EPCM, ECI, hybrid models, etc.)
- Excellent commercial savvy, including risk identification, negotiation, and contract management.
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking.
- Excellent communication and management skills.
- Ability to operate in ambiguity, challenge assumptions, and lead change.
Pay Range: CAD $138,000 - $170,000 per year
The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
