Full Job Description
Specialize in the design and development of automated container platforms, deployment pipelines, and cloud-ready application architectures. The Red Hat Consulting team is looking for a Senior Container Infrastructure Consultant to join us. In this role, you will learn to design and guide implementations of Red Hat OpenShift infrastructure projects to include container and virtualization technologies. You won't be expected to know everything on day one, but your ability to learn new technology quickly will be essential. This is a remote based job that can be located anywhere in the U.S. within close proximity to an airport. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.

What you will do
  • Implementation & Design: Implement automated, containerized cloud application platform solutions with a focus on infrastructure concerns including networking, storage, virtualization, security, logging, monitoring, and high availability and system resilience. Understand how to build production-ready container and virtualization platforms, integrated with existing enterprise systems.
  • Continuous Learning: Learn new technologies quickly, including container orchestration, container registries, container build strategies, cloud storage, and software-defined networks. Go through an intensive training program on Kubernetes, and OpenShift technologies and related DevOps and GitOps topics.
  • Customer Engagement: Travel frequently to work alongside leading financial services, retail, telecommunication, and institutional customers. Focus on the successful, collaborative delivery of customer requirements using Red Hat OpenShift.
  • Technical Leadership & Community: Successfully implement complex, large-scale container platform solutions in challenging customer environments. Help other consultants learn DevOps/GitOps paired with container technologies. Contribute lessons learned, best practices, and how-tos to our internal and external communities of practice.


What you will bring
  • Education: Associates or Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a technical discipline.
  • Consulting Experience: Experience leading successful modern cloud platform consulting engagements. Demonstrated track record of working in a strategic advisory role to senior IT and business executives.
  • VMware Infrastructure: Broad and deep technical experience with VMware ESXi software, including vCenter, VM lifecycle operations using VMware tools. Expert level with VMware VM foundational technologies for networks ([S/DV]Switches/NSX). Expert level with VMware VM foundational technologies for storage (Datastores, vSAN, vVols).
  • Operations & Integration: Experience with logging and alerting functions for SRE operations available from VMware and how they integrate with non-VMware enterprise systems, such as Splunk.
  • Agile/DevOps: Applied knowledge and experience working in agile, scrum, and DevOps teams.
  • Professional Skills: Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel to customer locations about 30-40 weeks per year on average throughout North America.


Considered a plus
  • Knowledge of common AddOns or third party tools (Aria/vRealize Suite, SRM, Backup software, Performance tools).
  • Additional technologies a plus: OpenStack, Red Hat Virtualization, Microsoft Hyper-V, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience across one or more vertical industry areas.

The salary range for this position is $118,600.00 - $195,680.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat's compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
