Overview

Our Real Estate Advisory and Appraisal team undertakes valuation assignments on a variety of assets across Canada. We also complete real estate portfolio reviews for both National and Global groups.

Our team is responsible for providing valuation services to public and private companies ranging from large multi-national companies to owner-operated businesses in a broad range of industries. Our professionals combine their knowledge of relevant valuation standards with their technical understanding across a wide range of sectors to understand the nature of each property and identify key factors impacting the value of the asset being appraised.

Joining our team as a Real Property Appraisal Consultant, you will expand your general real estate knowledge and develop skills as a property valuation expert. You will be given the opportunity to grow your career as an appraiser and conduct critical research and analysis related to complex property valuations. You will achieve the experience of complex and varied assignments across all asset classes and will benefit from a dedicated AACI mentor.

What you will do

  • Assist the team with research and analysis related to the valuation of various types of real estate properties for a variety of functions such as parkland dedication, expropriation, arbitration, portfolio review, and litigation purposes.
  • Assist in completing valuations of industrial properties, retail centres, office buildings, infrastructure, hotels, real estate investment portfolios, and special-use properties.
  • Support the KPMG Audit practice in connection with various valuation needs such as reviewing reports.
  • Gather and analyze data relating to the property being appraised.
  • Gather, analyze, populate, and maintain an internal database of market data from internal and third-party sources.
  • Think creatively to find solutions to unusual valuation circumstances & consult with professionals from KPMG's global network as needed.

What you bring to the role

  • Valid candidate membership with the Appraisal Institute of Canada (or be willing to work towards becoming a candidate member of the AIC)
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in Real Property Valuations and Advisory Consulting i.e. real property appraisal, and development of the real property valuation service
  • Ability and experience to assist in real property valuation opinions and real property valuation reviews.
  • Experience with Argus Enterprise is considered an asset.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to solve complex technical problems.
  • Proficiency working with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A valid Ontario Driver's License in order to undertake property inspections.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships internally and externally.
  • Highly motivated, committed, and flexible to cope with changing priorities and strict deadlines.
  • Strong and clear communication and report writing skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity, healthy skepticism, creativity, and attention to detail.
  • A team-oriented attitude with an ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to manage multiple assignments concurrently and competing priorities.


KPMG Ontario Region Pay Range Information (DELETE IF NOT REQUIRED)

The expected base salary range for this position is $78,000 to $107,500 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant's base salary within this range is based on the individual's location, skills & competencies, and unique qualifications. In addition, KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive Total Rewards program.
