OverviewThis position is within the Product Management division, which is accountable for the success of our software solutions by working cross-functionally with teams that develop, market, sell and support them.
The Opportunity
ConstructConnect's Takeoff Services team partners with customers to deliver completed quantity takeoffs as a finished, actionable deliverable. We are hiring a Senior Construction Estimator to anchor the operational quality of that service and provide expert guidance to our internal product development organization.
This is a hybrid role. You will be responsible for leading and guiding internal estimators on end-to-end customer takeoffs, ensuring deliverables meet the standard a paying interior contractor would accept without rework. You will also partner with Product: testing pre-release AI capabilities, identifying where automation falls short, and feeding that signal into our product and engineering teams so the next release closes the gap.
Responsibilities
What You’ll Be Doing
Customer Takeoff Delivery
- Lead customer-requested construction takeoffs of varying trade scopes using our toolset (Takeoff Boost in On-Screen Takeoff and other emerging tools).
- Own quality of customer deliverables the team ships. Spot-check work, set the bar for what “ready for the customer” means, and reject anything that does not meet it.
- Coordinate the work queue: triage incoming requests, assign across internal and contracted estimators, and protect customer turnaround commitments.
- Provide technical direction to our estimator team. Run informal 1:1s as needed for coaching, calibration, and unblocking. Set the quality bar, review work, and surface persistent issues.
- Serve as the escalation point for ambiguous scope, drawing interpretation calls, and customer questions on deliverables.
AI Quality and Product Feedback Loop
- Test pre-release AI features and new trade models against real projects before they reach customers. Produce structured before/after evaluations.
- Provide objective comparative evaluations of our tools’ capabilities relative to other industry options to identify capability gaps and inform improvement priorities.
Product Roadmap Influence
- Identify automation opportunities, new trade coverage, and workflow improvements that would meaningfully change estimator productivity.
- Help define success for new AI capabilities to determine quality and time savings in takeoff.
- This job description in no way implies that the duties listed here are the only ones that team members can be required to perform.
Qualifications
What You Bring to the Team
Required
- 5+ years of professional takeoff and estimating experience.
- Deep, hands-on expertise in On-Screen Takeoff (build conditions, manage assemblies, and teach others).
- Strong Division 9 (Finishes) takeoff experience, with at least 3 years focused on drywall, acoustical ceilings, flooring, finishes, doors and hardware, millwork, or interior GC.
- Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and quantify from architectural and interior drawing sets, specifications, schedules, and finish plans.
- Hands-on proficiency with takeoff and estimating software: On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, and at least one cloud takeoff tool.
- Proven ability to deliver consistent, high-quality takeoffs across multiple project types.
- Comfort working cross-functionally with non-estimators (product, engineering, operations).
Strongly Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
- Experience as a senior estimator or lead estimator at a subcontractor or interior GC, accountable for bid quality on high-complexity projects or across a small team.
- MEP takeoff experience (Divisions 22, 23, 26).
- Experience evaluating or piloting AI-assisted takeoff tools.
- Experience training or QA’ing other estimators’ work.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with offshore or distributed estimating teams.
- Experience building template libraries or estimating standards.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- The physical activities of this position include frequent sitting, telephone communication, and working on a computer for extended periods. Visual acuity is required to perform activities close to the eyes.
- Team members are expected to maintain a dedicated and ergonomically appropriate remote workspace.
- Team members who live within commuting distance of our office location (Metro Atlanta, Georgia) are expected to work in a hybrid capacity, with regular in-office presence every Tuesday and Wednesday each week.
- All team members must reside and perform their work within the United States.
I have read, understand, and can perform the essential duties of this position.
