Position Details

What You Will Do
  • Provide high-quality, timely and solution-oriented regulatory compliance and compliance-focused analysis, advice, and guidance in support of all facets of Echelon's insurance business
  • Research and prepare written memoranda, communications, and presentations to support regulatory compliance-focused analysis, advice and guidance provided
  • Stay current on insurance, financial services and other applicable legislation, regulations, regulatory guidelines and directives, and any related developments, and their impact on Echelon's business and strategy
  • Assist in the development and delivery of regulatory compliance training for the business and coach business partners on regulatory compliance best practices
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans for resolution of compliance issues
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Compliance infrastructure, including, drafting regulatory compliance implementation plans and timelines
  • Develop Compliance framework, taxonomy, policies, methodologies, standards & tools based on OSFI and Provincial regulatory requirements
  • Develop and report on Compliance key risk indicators (KRIs), compliance/operational risk event reporting
  • Support with Business Process Mapping and Risk Control
  • Provide guidance to the business on the integration of regulatory compliance with the execution of strategic business plans
  • Provide regulatory compliance support with their knowledge of Insurance Operations by attending meetings with business units
  • Work collaboratively with governance and control functions for implementation and embedding a compliance culture
  • Enable effective management of regulatory compliance at the front-line level by coaching business partners on best practices such as developing policies and guidelines
  • Conduct periodic monitoring and testing reviews of business units to ensure that Echelon's processes and controls are effective
  • Reviewing and draft correspondence to and from regulators and assist in the completion and submission of regulatory reports and surveys
  • Advise on regulatory compliance and monitor action plans

The expected salary range for this position will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate's skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position's business line, scope and level. Who You Are
  • Completed post-secondary education in Business Administration, Commerce, Risk Management or Insurance
  • Industry accreditation (CIP, FCIP, CRM, RF) would be an asset
  • 5+ years of experience in insurance operations (Underwriting, Claims, etc) and/or regulatory compliance role in a Canadian insurance company or brokerage
  • Prior Ethidex regulatory compliance management system experience an asset
  • Prior experience in the insurance industry OR experience with OSFI and provincial insurance regulatory compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating and supporting projects/programs that involved cross-functional stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to suit the needs of various stakeholders across all levels of management
  • Prior knowledge/experience with Governance, Risk and Compliance and Controls frameworks is an asset
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Good organizational & time management skills
