As our new Senior CNC Programming Engineer at our FANUC Materials Handling (MH) facility, you will lead be responsible for spearheading the development, optimization, and maintenance of advanced CNC programs producing high-precision paint robot components. You need to ensure parts are manufactured to exact print specifications using vertical and horizontal machining centers (3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis) and other machine shop equipment, such as FANUC ROBODRILLs. You'll be involved in mentoring CNC programmers and machinists, driving strategic process improvements, and leading the integration of new technologies that enhance production efficiency and quality. You will partner with both engineering and production ensuring alignment between manufacturing processes with facility goals.
How It's DoneAdvanced CNC Programming & Process Optimization
- Lead the development, testing, validation, and optimization of complex CNC programs for 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis machining centers and basic 2 axis lathes up to multi axis lathes with live tooling, using Mastercam
- Drive manufacturing process improvements to reduce cycle times and scrap, improve throughput, maintain repeatability, and ensure compliance with all print specifications
Tooling, Workholding & Tool Crib Management
- Design and implement advanced fixtures, tooling, workholding, and custom cutting tool solutions to improve part stability, machining precision, and process capability
- Maintain a metric-based tooling library and oversee tool crib operations to support high tool availability and production requirements
CNC Equipment Integration & Manufacturing Scalability
- Lead the installation, programming, validation, and production integration of new CNC equipment, including FANUC ROBODRILL machining centers and FANUC controls
- Contribute to equipment investment planning, process scalability initiatives, and long-term manufacturing growth strategies
Technical Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with process engineering, production, and quality teams to review manufacturability, resolve complex machining challenges, and ensure robust manufacturing processes that consistently achieve print and customer requirements
Documentation, Quality & Process Capability
- Develop and standardize CNC programs, setup sheets, and work instructions in metric units using Mastercam
- Ensure documentation supports First Article Inspection (FAI) and Final Product Inspection (FPI) requirements while driving continuous improvement initiatives focused on CPK/PPK, cost reduction, and process performance
Mentorship & Workforce Development
- Mentor CNC programmers, Machinist III personnel, and junior engineers on advanced Mastercam programming, FANUC controls, tooling strategies, and machining process optimization, fostering technical excellence and operational consistency
What You Need- H.S. Diploma
- Minimum eight years of applicable industry experience
- Minimum 8 years' hands-on experience in CNC programming and machining with emphasis on 4-axis and 5-axis machining centers in precision manufacturing environments
- Expertise in complex CNC programming and FANUC controls
- Demonstrated leadership in process improvement initiatives and equipment integration projects
What Would Be Even Better- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Expert-level Mastercam programming capabilities with extensive experience supporting production on Mazak and Okuma-controlled CNC machining centers
- Hands-on experience machining Delrin and 316 stainless steel, with expertise in machinability, tooling strategies, cutting parameters, and process optimization
