We are looking for a Senior Clinical Manager to lead daily operations in the Heart Centre's cardiology inpatient unit 4D. In this role, you will manage complex day-to-day clinical operations. The Senior Clinical Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, operational management, and strategic direction of 4D Inpatient Cardiology. This role ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient and family-centred care through the effective coordination of human, financial, and environmental resources.
Here's what you'll get to do- Oversees the day-to-day operations of 4D Inpatient Cardiology, ensuring the provision of high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care.
- Maximizes patient flow across the Heart Centre by working collaboratively with the Cardiac Critical Care Unit (CCCU) and the 4D medical team to facilitate timely, appropriate, and safe patient admissions and transfers.
- Partners closely with the Cardiac Diagnostic and Interventional Unit (CDIU) to optimize patient throughput, support appropriate lengths of stay, and enhance the overall patient experience for children undergoing invasive cardiac procedures.
- Provides leadership in the planning, allocation, and management of human, financial, and environmental resources to ensure operational effectiveness and sustainability.
- Maintains fiscal accountability for the unit's operational budget, including monitoring expenditures, forecasting resource requirements, and ensuring responsible stewardship of staffing and financial resources.
- Collaborates with quality and operational leaders to continuously monitor, evaluate, and advance quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient outcomes, safety, and unit performance. Supports the tracking of key performance indicators and contributes to organizational reporting efforts that inform hospital-wide capacity and resource planning.
- Works in close partnership with physicians, interprofessional teams, patients, and families to develop, implement, and evaluate programs and services that are responsive to the needs of children and their caregivers. Ensures patient and family voices are incorporated into decision-making and care planning processes.
- Provides visible, supportive leadership to the 4D team through the recruitment, onboarding, development, coaching, and performance management of staff. Fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, engagement, psychological safety, and continuous learning that reflects organizational values.
- Demonstrates a particular commitment to supporting new employees, especially early-career nurses and staff who are navigating the transition into professional practice, ensuring they receive the guidance, mentorship, and resources needed to succeed.
- Maintains a strong and visible presence within the clinical environment, actively engaging with staff and patients while remaining attentive and responsive to workplace culture, staff wellbeing, morale, and team dynamics.
- Has a special interest in developing future nursing leaders and works closely with Clinical Support Nurses (CSNs) and emerging leaders to strengthen leadership competencies, build confidence, and support career growth within the unit and the organization.

- Minimum 3 years of formal or informal leadership experience, including 2 years relevant healthcare experience or a graduate of a regulated healthcare professional program.
- Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and a Master's Degree in Nursing or evidence of working towards is preferred.
- Candidates with health care management experience AND a Master's degree in a non-nursing field will also be considered.
- Experience managing, coaching and developing others.
- Knowledge of budgeting processes and ability to analyze fiscal and patient care data.
- Awareness of program planning, standards development and program evaluation.
- Strong business acumen; general understanding of business principles and how they apply to the unit's operational needs.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and engage constructively with others. Ability to advocate, motivate and influence others in order to gain their support and
- Ability to understand and respond appropriately to the concerns of others.
- Demonstrated resilience in a range of complex and demanding situations.
