This Opportunity:

Our Water Group is currently recruiting a Senior Civil/Environmental Engineer with a strong technical focus on stormwater/drainage, water resources, environmental restoration, parks/recreation, and general site design for our Gainesville or Jacksonville, Florida offices.

This role combines advanced technical engineering with project delivery and leadership responsibilities. Candidates should bring both hands-on design expertise and the ability to support project management, mentor staff, and contribute to client development.

We are seeking an Environmental, Civil, or Water Resources Engineer who enjoys technical challenges, delivering high-quality engineering solutions, and working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of water resources and infrastructure projects while growing into increased leadership responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform field and office work supporting civil, environmental, and water resources engineering projects, including stormwater management, environmental restoration, dredging, parks/recreation, and resilient infrastructure design
  • Develop engineering design deliverables including construction drawings, specifications, cost estimates, bid documents, and permitting packages (ERP, wetlands, dredging, and related approvals)
  • Conduct hydrologic, hydraulic, groundwater, and water quality modeling (e.g., ICPR, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS); develop water budgets and evaluate watershed and drainage system performance
  • Prepare erosion and sediment control plans, stormwater management systems, and infrastructure design solutions aligned with Florida regulatory requirements
  • Support and, where appropriate, lead project delivery from planning through design and construction, including grading, drainage, rehabilitation, and reconstruction projects
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including planners, environmental scientists, and regulatory agencies, ensuring effective integration of design components
  • Provide construction phase services such as site inspections, responding to RFIs, and ensuring compliance with design intent and safety standards
  • Assist with project management functions including scope development, budgeting, scheduling, cost control, and risk management
  • Support proposal preparation, technical writing, and development of client relationships within Florida markets
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative team environment focused on quality, safety, and professional growth
  • Maintain a strong commitment to company safety programs and adhere to all health, safety, and regulatory requirements


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering from an accredited institution
  • 5-7+ years of progressive experience in civil/environmental engineering with a focus on water resources, stormwater, or infrastructure projects
  • Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Strong technical expertise in water resources and civil engineering, including hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, stormwater design, and site civil design
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D and preparation of construction documents
  • Experience with Florida hydrology, permitting processes, and regulatory agencies (e.g., Water Management Districts, FDEP)
  • Understanding of climate resilience, sustainability, and environmental restoration principles.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to prepare technical reports, proposals, and present complex concepts to diverse audiences
  • Experience supporting project budgets, scheduling, and quality control processes.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively while mentoring junior staff
  • Willingness to travel within Florida as required
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and ability to pass background check
