Senior Buyer

Broadata Communications, Inc. (BCI) - Torrance, CA
On-site/ Full-Time

Job Summary
The Senior Buyer is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day purchasing activities within assigned areas of our Manufacturing Department. This position will be responsible for purchasing and materials logistics to support all stages of product development, working side by side with engineers and manufacturing personnel in a dynamic and engaging environment. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the Corporation's success, ensuring that we continually meet required production schedules as well as managing end-to-end materials procurement for internal developments.
This is a hands-on position. This is NOT a remote or hybrid position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage RFQ and PO processes
  • Identify new suppliers and negotiate prices
  • Participate in S&OP process including demand and material planning for assigned product portfolios/vendors
  • Analyze material inventory and accountable for maintaining sufficient safety stock and inventory projection for the materials
  • Balance material demand/supply to minimize stockout risk by analyzing current inventory, forecasting needs, and scheduling supplier's shipments
  • Accountable for creating Purchase Orders in ERP system, maintain accurate open PO lines to define inbound quantities and due dates from suppliers, track in transit shipments, and expedite deliveries as needed
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, and effectively manage quality service / product performance issues with suppliers.
  • Communicate material quality and delivery change requirements to suppliers in an MRP environment
  • Purchase materials and services, obtaining maximum value in terms of price, quality, and delivery
  • This position is ideal for a self-starter with a proactive, ownership mentality who can make decisions of consequence in a fast-paced environment.
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree, with 5 years of relevant experience,
  • or Associate's degree, with 10 years of relevant experience
  • Certifications from Industry associations is a plus (C.P.M.).
  • 5 years of relevant experience (with Bachelor's degree),
  • or 10+ years of relevant experience (with Associate's degree)
  • Experience in high-tech manufacturing/production environment a plus
  • Understanding and hands-on experience with manufacturing resource planning (MRP) systems such as SAGE or equivalent.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to commit and work under deadlines
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills; demonstrated proficiency working with large data sets
  • Must be able to work in a challenging and engaging work environment that promotes teamwork, creativity, accountability, and professional development.
Physical Job Requirements
The employee in the position will be required to occasionally move throughout the facilities, including climbing stairs, when necessary. Occasional bending and reaching in an office environment, including opening and closing file cabinets drawers with light grasping. Type on a standard keyboard (laptop or desktop). Use standard computer display screens. Use standard push-button phones and must speak clearly and be understood by others. Sit or stand in a standard upright position for a minimum of one hour, but up to 12 hours a day. Be able to lift and carry weight unassisted not exceeding 50 lbs.
