Full Job Description
SummaryThe Senior Buyer is responsible for the planning and procurement of assigned production, nonproduction (MRO) materials and/or new product introduction (NPI) material requirement. Formulate and develop purchasing and materials management strategies. Position is 100% onsite in our Melbourne, FL location. To be considered, candidates must have experience with made-to-print items, raw PCB procurement, and electronic components. Responsibilities
  • Manage moderate and complex commodities in SMT manufacturing and full box build environments.
  • Develop and implement solutions to situational management issues.
  • Plan material purchases based on MRP requirements.
  • Ensure materials are on time to meet production and requisition start dates.
  • Send out Purchase Orders (POs).
  • Maintain exceptions report.
  • Manage issues on supplier management.
  • Manage material discrepancies (quality, quantity and price). Work closely with Program Managers regarding quality issues.
  • Meet purchased pricing requirements and cost savings objectives.
  • Negotiate cost and lead time reductions for assigned commodities.
  • Provide input to the ECO planning process.
  • Implement revisions and/or part changes within the ECO process.
  • Find alternative sourcing for material and deal with tactical issues and concerns.
  • Focal material representative with new customer's implementation strategy and execution.
  • Participate in new product team meetings.
  • Able to create ad-hoc material management reports as required.
  • Manage to an inventory turns/model budget.
  • Act as the leader buyer on certain projects.
  • Propose/implement inventory reduction strategy.
  • Work closely/timely to resolve discrepant material (MRB) and return material authorization (RMAs).
  • Maintain tracking reports and metric charts to provide status, measure performance, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Interface with Engineers and Supplier Quality including but not limited to MRB resolution.

Qualifications
  • Experience with made-to-print, raw PCB procurement, and electronic components REQUIRED.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field and 8 + years of related experience in purchasing electronic components for PCB assemblies.
  • APICS' CPIM or other relative purchasing certification a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge in material planning and procurement process.
  • Strong knowledge of commodities assigned and major suppliers in the industry.
  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems; INFOR Syteline preferred.
  • ISO certification a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to write contracts.
  • Excellent business tools/applications knowledge (i.e. Email, Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Strong contract negotiation, problem solving and workstation skills.
  • Self-motived, ability to work independently and quickly with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to operate in a multi-tasking, highly dynamic work environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as necessary.
  • US Person as defined in 22 CRF Part 120.15 (U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees and those given asylum in the United States, and temporary residents granted amnesty) since work includes ITAR controlled technical data.
