Position Summary

The Senior Business Systems Analyst provides dedicated support to the Middle Office by translating complex risk oversight, performance measurement, data, reporting, and workflow needs into clear business processes, requirements, and technology solutions. Embedded with Middle Office stakeholders and closely connected to Digital delivery teams, this role documents current and target-state processes and data flows, clarifies ownership and controls, identifies gaps and improvement opportunities, and supports solutions from discovery through testing, implementation, and adoption. The position helps create a consistent, efficient operating model across Middle Office, Digital, data management, Commercial technology, and other partner teams.

This position belongs to a family of jobs with increasing responsibility, competency, and skill level. Actual position title and pay grade will be based on the selected candidate's experience and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
• Leads improvement recommendations and presents effectively to senior and executive management and global teams.
• Leads working sessions with Middle Office and cross-functional partners to define current and target-state processes, data flows, business rules, controls, ownership, and system interactions; translates complex operational P&L, risk, reporting, and governance needs into actionable requirements and user stories.
• Provides recommendations for appropriate systems alternatives and/or enhancements to current systems.
• Partners with business teams to develop ways to investigate business performance and other measures to gain insight and drive business planning.
• Leads and serves as a senior resource on cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions.
• Serves as a resource to colleagues, mentors and helps improve the team's abilities around all IT Service Management (ITSM) disciplines deployed.
• Leads the cross-functional testing strategy for Middle Office solutions, including traceability from requirements through user acceptance testing, validation of data and business rules, defect resolution, control evidence, and readiness for implementation.
• Leads the planning, conducting and documenting of user stories, user feedback. Effectively communicates feedback with senior leaders for technology improvement.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems preferred, related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience required
  • Experience in the oil and gas, refining, midstream, commodity trading, or energy industry, with an understanding of physical and financial commodity transactions and value-chain operations, preferred.
  • Experience supporting Middle Office, commercial risk, or performance-measurement capabilities, including operational P&L, mark-to-market valuation, P&L attribution, priced-to-GAAP reconciliation, exposure monitoring, or risk-limit controls, preferred.
  • Experience documenting and improving business processes, data flows, business rules, controls, ownership, and system interactions across Commercial, Middle Office, Finance, Accounting, Risk, and Digital teams.
  • Experience with energy trading and risk management systems, risk data platforms, enterprise resource planning systems, market-data feeds, data integration, reporting, analytics, data lineage, and data governance is preferred.
  • Experience leading requirements definition, user acceptance testing, data and business-rule validation, control evidence, issue resolution, and implementation readiness for complex, cross-functional technology solutions.
