Job Location:

This position is primarily remote with occasional onsite travel to Washington, DC, approximately 1-2 times per month.

Job Description:

Blake Willson Group is seeking a Senior GAAP Accountant to support financial analysis and cost adjudication across complex contractor cost structures. This role applies GAAP guidance, including ASC 330, ASC 360, ASC 340-40, and ASC 606, to evaluate cost treatments, overhead allocations, capitalization decisions, and WBS-aligned costs. The accountant will support recurring adjudication cycles and develop audit-ready analyses and documentation for Government and program stakeholders. In this position, you will also:
  • Perform technical accounting analysis of cost flows, overhead pools, capitalization, and WBS-aligned costs.
  • Apply applicable GAAP standards to evaluate contractor financial treatments and cost accuracy.
  • Support monthly and quarterly cost adjudication, reconciliation, and financial review activities.
  • Identify and evaluate discrepancies, anomalies, and potential cost misallocations.
  • Prepare clear, audit-ready documentation, technical analyses, and recommendations for KO, PM, DCMA, and legal stakeholders.
  • Communicate complex accounting findings and recommendations to leadership and Government customers.

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of accounting experience, including experience supporting a defense contractor or defense manufacturer.
  • 3+ years of experience applying GAAP, including ASC 330, ASC 360, ASC 340-40, and ASC 606, to complex financial and cost structures.
  • 3+ years of experience performing financial analysis, reconciliation, and technical accounting assessments with the ability to clearly communicate complex findings.

Desired Skills:
  • Experience supporting defense program finance.
  • Familiarity with Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
  • Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS).
  • Experience using Power BI for financial analysis and reporting.
