Full Job Description
The Senior Associate, Equity Asset Management plays a key role in supporting the management and optimization of hospitality-related investments within the equity portfolio. This position is responsible for leading a geographically and brand-diverse portfolio of hotel assets within the Company's portfolio. The primary objectives are to enhance the value of the Company's lodging real estate by i) providing strategic oversight of operations management and both establishing and achieving specific operating metrics and expense ratios, ii) maximizing net operating income and iii) collaborating with the broader organization to execute on both individual and portfolio asset strategy.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Asset Management: Support in monitoring and managing the performance of hospitality assets, identifying areas for operations improvement, and implementing strategies to enhance value.
  • Financial Modeling: Assist in developing financial models to assess investment opportunities for either existing or to-be-developed hotels, including revenue projections, expense forecasts, and investment returns.
  • Portfolio Analysis: Assist in evaluating the operating performance of hospitality assets across the portfolio, including hotels, any equity investment, and other related properties.
  • Relationship Management: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external stakeholders, and property operators to execute both operating proforma objectives and asset management strategies effectively to improve upon the investment business plan.
  • Mentorship: Be a team leader and serve as a mentor to junior team members, guiding them on best practices, career development, financial analysis, operations best practices and decision-making capabilities.
  • Reporting: Prepare reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders on portfolio performance, investment recommendations, and market insights, including quarterly financial reviews and annual budget development.
  • Market Research: Conduct research on industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor analysis to inform investment decisions and asset strategies.
  • Due Diligence: Travel to portfolio hotels totaling two (2) weeks per quarter to continually i) assess the leadership capabilities, ii) establish and support on-going decision points and timelines and iii) execute various change initiatives, as well as monitor asset condition, opportunities and challenges. Participate in due diligence processes for potential investments or hotel developments, including property inspections, operating benchmarks, operating ramp-up modeling, financial analysis, and risk assessments.

Qualifications And Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, real estate, hospitality management, or a related field. A master's degree or CFA designation may be beneficial but not always required.
  • 5+ years of direct real estate experience in asset management.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including proficiency in financial modeling, Excel, and data analysis tools.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, with a passion for developing others.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in financial analysis, reporting, and documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively.
