Position Summary:
Primary focus is to support Asset Development by collaborating with the managers in the West Texas and Gulf Coast regions to define, analyze, recommend, and support customer initiatives that optimize the relationships between internal Marathon stakeholders and customers. The position will be responsible for understanding producer production forecasts, NG&NGL contracts, operational and origination initiatives that enhance reliability and optimization, and economic modeling of capital projects and possible joint ventures/acquisitions that clearly demonstrate the overall corporate financial value.
Responsibilities:
• Identifies, develops and implements commercial projects and strategies to grow profitability in MPLX. Negotiates with customers to develop commercial agreements which facilitate earnings growth.
• Leads, supports and facilitates strategic alignment, prioritization and tactical plans associated with commercial business improvement initiatives.
• Partners and influences effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure growth projects are identified, developed and successfully executed in a timely fashion; develops supporting presentation material to leadership.
• Develops and maintains relationships with third parties which have potential to lead to commercial opportunities.
• Proactive in understanding changes in markets, customers and competition that could spawn opportunities or impact current business.
• Collaborates with the Value Chain and Business Development Organizations to align on strategies within area of responsibility.
• Directs Engineering regarding development of growth projects.
• Collaborates with Strategy and Business Development Organization identifying and evaluating potential M&A opportunities.
• Ensures alignment of strategic direction between MPC and MPLX.
• Helps manage producer customer relationships with Asset Development Team.
• Collaborates with regional Asset Development Teams to analyze and implement financial and integration planning.
• Summarizes and makes interpretations of public production data affecting regions and specifics G&P contracts that may alter future production forecasting.
• Leads independent studies corresponding to regional initiatives that enhance or create revenue or reliability.
Requirements:
• Minimum of 8 years broad energy experience with a minimum of 3 years of commercial related experience in the fields of finance, economic modeling, or energy analysis. Natural gas and/or natural gas liquids experience is preferred with an integrated energy company.
• Active and demonstratable resume of supporting projects reaching corporate execution with economic rationale and modeling.
• Advanced organizational written and oral communication skills to 3rd parties and internal Marathon stakeholders.
• Experienced cross functional intercompany communications and reporting to Managers and Directors.
• Advanced abilities to work with multiple projects simultaneously.
• Travel as needed, up to 1 week per month.
