What is the opportunity?

The Senior Analyst, Operational Innovation is an execution-focused delivery role within the Operational Innovation & Enablement group. The role supports the delivery of operational development and readiness initiatives across RBC CM COO through process and opportunity assessments, solution development, continuous improvement, and knowledge management. This role is a strong individual contributor who translates business requirements into innovative functional solutions, operating in a collaborative manner within established governance frameworks and strategic directions.

What will you do?

Operational Assessment & Opportunity Analysis: Support structured operational assessments and process discovery. Leverage and/or document current-state workflows and evaluate processes against standardized criteria including volume, complexity, rules-based logic, exception handling, and integration requirements. Contribute to business case development and ROI analyses for operational development initiatives, applying the team's frameworks and prioritization criteria.

Solutions Design & Delivery: Design and build operational solutions with end-to-end accountability for the delivery of assigned initiatives. Develop dashboards, desktop productivity tools, workflow automations and low-code no-code solutions, working with relevant stakeholders to define integration requirements and data flows. Lead testing and production deployment of solutions, including translations into operational procedures, system configurations, and job aids.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner efficiently with relevant stakeholders to gather requirements, coordinate delivery activities, and communicate solution designs, status updates, and outcomes clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Contribute to broader Operational Readiness workstreams as required.

Monitoring & Continuous Improvement: Track performance of processes and solutions against KPIs such as cycle times, exception rates and processing accuracy. Support the function's continuous improvement agenda. Contribute to the tracking and delivery of development initiatives from identification through execution to post-implementation. Participate in benchmarking activities and contribute actively to knowledge-sharing and best practice development within group. Maintain best practices repositories including standards, templates, and lessons learned.

Governance & Compliance Support: Adhere to governance standards and change management processes established by the function. Support risk reviews related to delivery. Apply responsible delivery principles and follow enterprise standards throughout development and deployment cycles. Maintain audit-ready documentation for all assigned delivery activities.

What do you need to succeed?
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, Business administration or a related field.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of progressive experience in operations, process improvement, continuous improvement, program delivery, or a related discipline in a complex enterprise or financial services environment.
  • Stakeholder Management & Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to manage cross-functional stakeholder relationships and communicate effectively at senior levels.
  • Analytical Thinking & Business Judgment: Data-driven approach to problem-solving.
  • Technical Skillset: The following technical skills are strongly preferred for this role:
  • Microsoft Suite: Expertise and fluency in the Microsoft Applications suite i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
  • Business Intelligence and Dashboarding: Building and maintaining operational dashboards and KPI reports using Tableau or Power BI.
  • Data Preparation and Transformation: Experience in preparing, cleaning and integrating datasets from multiple sources using Excel, SQL and tools like Alteryx, DBT or Python.
  • Data Modeling and Analytics: Data modeling and data mart design experience on platforms such as DataBricks or Snowflake to support high-volume analytics.
  • Data Engineering Basics: Understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines and data quality principles to support analytics and automation workflows.
  • SQL and Database: Querying relational databases, data extraction, and supporting operational workflows with structured data.
  • Low-Code/No-Code Platforms: Workflow design and automation using Power Automate, Zapier, or enterprise equivalents for rapid solution delivery.
  • Python Skills: Core scripting capability for automation logic, data transformation, and integration across operational tools and systems.


Nice-to-have
  • Experience in financial services or a regulated industry, with capital markets knowledge a particular asset
  • Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent.
  • Experience contributing to business case development and ROI quantification.
  • Version Control and Basic DevOps: Familiarity with Git and CI/CD concepts for maintaining reproducible, manageable automation code.
  • Business Process Modeling: Proficiency in BPMN notation, swimlane diagrams, and flowcharts to document and communicate process design.
  • RPA Skills: Development using UiPath, Blue Prism, or Automation Anywhere, including deployment and performance monitoring.
  • API and Integration Basics: Working knowledge of RESTful APIs and webhooks to connect systems and data sources.
  • Cloud Platform Basics: Basic knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP, including infrastructure and managed services relevant to automation hosting.
