Job DescriptionThe Senior Analyst, Enterprise Data Governance Data Activation role will support the activation of data management (as outlined in the organization's Enterprise Data Governance Policy) across business units at American Express. This role will also provide support in training, communications, and change management related to data governance across the enterprise.
Responsibilities• Execution of data activation activities and processes to bring data under governance (e.g., critical data element prioritization, data mapping, identifying data management roles, documenting data, and classifying systems)
• Communicating data management program requirements to federated data management teams.
• Initiating the training of federated data management teams on foundational processes and activities to bring data under governance.
• Communicating requirements to teams who own data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, data quality platform, etc.)
• Develop advanced knowledge on the Enterprise Data Management Operating Policy in order to support the data activation activities
Qualifications• Understanding of Data Management and Data Governance concepts (metadata, lineage, data quality, etc.) and related metrics to monitor compliance of Data Governance policy and standards.
• Basic experience / knowledge of Data Governance / Data Management tools (e.g., Manta, Collibra)
• Ability to collaborate, influence, and communicate across multiple stakeholders and levels of leadership, speaking at the appropriate level of detail to both business executives and technology teams.
• Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to engage, influence, and encourage partners and stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment.
• High degree of organization, individual initiative, results and solution oriented, and personal accountability and resiliency
• Proven track record of driving results in a fast-paced environment often with significant ambiguity and needing to make decisions with less than perfect information.
• Self-motivated and proactive, ability to manage multiple assignments and projects
concurrently within tight deadlines.
• Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting, or related field.
