Full Job Description
The Position

The Senior Alignment & Field Planning Manager will provide strategic leadership for the design, optimization, and execution of field territory alignments and targeting across CMCS (including CMCS_VIR), Rare Disease, and Market Access teams. This role will lead key analytical and operational processes that translate business strategy, customer opportunity, field capacity, and market dynamics into effective field structures and deployment decisions. The Senior Manager will serve as a strategic partner to Field Leadership and Market Access Leadership, providing data-driven recommendations on territory design, organizational structures, targeting, and field deployment. The role will also champion the use of advanced analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), automation, and emerging technologies to enhance field planning capabilities, improve decision quality, accelerate planning cycles, and identify opportunities for continuous optimization. The incumbent will provide leadership across cross-functional teams, influence senior stakeholders, manage external partners, and establish best practices and governance for alignment and targeting processes.

Relationships

This position reports to the Director, Field Alignment and Call Plan Operations and will have frequent interaction with other members of the Field Operations team, IT, HRIS, in delivery of territory alignment and call plan related deliverables to downstream systems. This position interacts regularly with Field Leadership and Market Access Field Leadership team to assess and implement alignment changes as well as significant interaction and management of external vendors.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for the territory alignments, answering queries and performing adhoc analysis regarding territory assignments for CMCS Rare Disease and Market Access teams
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and strategic advisor to Field and Market Access Leadership on territory design, field deployment, and structural changes; Closely collaborate with Field leadership to assess and implement structure changes for each cycle
  • Manage Alignment Manager System set-up with latest, accurate/relevant data for field teams to make informed decision on field alignment
  • Manage the territory alignment process for each Cycle and gain approval from sales management on alignment changes
  • Train the CMCS field users every cycle on the Alignment manager tool and enable field to submit the alignment changes in JAMS successfully
  • Proactively identify and execute on opportunities to improve operational efficiency of processes related to alignment
  • Work closely with Director, Field Operations and Call Planning in leading localization sessions to support major Sales Force structure initiatives
  • Collaborate with IT, Reporting Systems and HRIS to ensure timely output of territory/people alignment
  • Lead end to end Alignment and targeting cycle for Market Access
  • Collaborate closely with MA leadership to plan and execute any alignment changes
  • Train MA team every cycle on the Targeting tool and enable them to execute the targeting exercise successfully
  • Manage relationships, deliverables, and performance of external vendors supporting alignment, targeting, analytics, and related technology platforms
  • Partner closely with Data & Analytics and IT teams to advance analytical and AI-enabled field planning capabilities
  • System owner for Roster Manager Manage and ensure cycle changes are reflected in the Roster Manager
  • Works within NNI's established policies and procedures and ensures alignment of their work to Novo Nordisk Essentials.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and/or Pharm D required. 8+ years' experience in sales planning or business analysis in the pharmaceutical industry; OR related field required. Relevant consulting experience can be substituted as deemed appropriate
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in call planning design implementation preferred or Sales experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) complex business analysis and issues clearly and concisely essential
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Data analysis skills & Excellent computer skills
  • Experience using alignment software, such as Javelin Territory Designer, AlignStar, TerrAlign, PharmaAlign, Veeva align preferred
  • Mathematical and statistical skills
  • Time and priority management skills


The base compensation range for this position is $150,000 to $190,000. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance. Novo Nordisk offers long-term incentive compensation and or company vehicles depending on the position's level or other company factors.
