Full Job Description
The Sr. Agilist is responsible for working with and coaching multiple or larger scale teams using Agile based tools and ways of working. Incumbents work with greater independence and lead efforts that drive solutions to issues with multiple teams. This role works closely with other colleagues, product owners, team members, communities of practice, and leadership to deliver value to Telecom Operations teams and the Duke community. The Sr. Agilist is relatively Agile discipline-agnostic practitioner, helping teams use the Agile tools that make the most sense for them vs. being committed to a specific discipline such as Scrum or Kaban.

Responsibilities

Delivering Agility
  • Guides team maturity by introducing new concepts and disciplines for value delivery
  • Coaching and facilitating development teams through all aspects of the agile process including release planning, sprint planning, daily standups, product demos, backlog refinement, scrum of scrum meetings (when using Scrum), and retrospectives
  • Proactively prevents potential roadblocks and barriers
  • Proactively manage dependencies and risks.
  • Demonstrates ownership by building and capitalizing on inter-team relationships for managing dependencies and risks.
  • Demonstrates appropriate judgment on when it's time to help the team pivot. This can include but is not limited to changing priorities, technology changes.
  • Identify and address where psychological safety concerns exist.
  • Proven track record of success in agile product delivery, knowledge of best practices and the ability to provide leadership oversight and planning of development activities
  • Provide metrics to support data-driven decision making to deliver value.
  • Ability to navigate various layers of the organization, identify allies and coordinate with other teams to improve delivery of value to the customer.

  • 4 years related work experience
  • In lieu of Bachelors degree(s) AND 4 year(s) related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 6 year(s) related work experience


Desired Qualifications
  • In addition to desired degree, 3 years related work experience
  • Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP) and/or SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager Certification (Agile) and/or Certified Agile Leadership I
  • Demonstrated experience serving as an Agilist, Agile Coach, or Scrum Master supporting multiple NGBU durable product teams in a complex technology organization.
  • Experience supporting NGBU mobile, web, spatial, and/or traceability product teams is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead and facilitate NGBU Quarterly Planning (PI Planning), objective setting, dependency management, and delivery planning activities across multiple cross-functional teams.
  • Experience partnering with NGBU Product Owners, Business Stakeholders, Architects, Change Managers, UX resources, and Delivery Teams to align priorities, manage risks, and deliver strategic business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, track, and mitigate delivery risks, cross-team dependencies, technical constraints, and organizational impediments affecting NGBU product delivery.
  • Experience supporting NGBU strategic technology initiatives with responsibilities spanning facilitation, project coordination, stakeholder engagement, execution planning, and delivery governance.
  • Proven ability to operate as a shared agile resource across multiple NGBU teams and initiatives, balancing competing priorities while maintaining focus on business value and delivery commitments.
  • Experience using Agile metrics, team health indicators, delivery insights, and continuous improvement practices to improve predictability, effectiveness, and team performance

  • Excellent written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
  • Demonstrated servant-leadership in nontraditional ways (coaching, volunteer work leadership, etc.)
  • Interact effectively with others at all levels of the organization; makes persuasive and informative presentations.
  • Proficiency in multiple Agile frameworks (e.g Scrum, Kanban)
  • Proficiency in consulting, advising, coaching
  • Strong facilitation skills - can mobilize others

Working Conditions
  • Hybrid Mobility Classification - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility.
