This is a hybrid position with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.

 

Your Role

 

At CBC/Radio-Canada, the Technology & Infrastructure Rapid Innovation Pod is an agile, cross-functional unit dedicated to accelerating the co-development of emerging technologies. Our mission is to explore technology pathways critical to our strategic goals and drive knowledge sharing across flagship projects.

 

As a technology leader and seasoned expert, you will spearhead the exploration of emerging technologies through rapid prototyping and proofs of concept (PoCs), ensuring a seamless transition to full implementation. As an influential strategic advisor and active contributor to international working groups, you will shape the organization’s technical future through inspiring mentorship and cutting-edge expertise.

 

Your Responsibilities


Strategic Leadership, Influence and Industry Networking

  • Strategic Planning: Shape the strategy for innovation pipelines and advise leadership on disruptive opportunities, while providing agile technical counsel on major projects to anticipate future needs.
  • Executive Engagement: Present, explain and advocate for innovation initiatives, platform concepts and major procurement proposals to leadership, working in close collaboration with the Director of Co-Innovation.
  • International Collaboration and Standardization: Officially represent the Corporation on industry committees and standards bodies (e.g., EBU, AMWA, JT-DMF, SMPTE) to influence future industry developments.

 

Scope, Technical Direction and Agile Experimentation

  • Rapid Prototyping and Design: Design, build and model practical, innovative solutions — including complex prototypes and PoCs — applying disruptive technologies to address strategic business needs nationally.
  • Experimentation Scoping: Partner with business units to define clear project scope, deliverables and timelines for each innovation sprint.
  • Agile Iteration Management: Proactively manage scope creep and resolve technical roadblocks to maximize the value-to-effort ratio during experimentation.
  • Technical Leadership and Oversight: Provide technical guidance within the team, and lead and mentor analysts.

 

Technical Integration and Knowledge Transfer

  • Cross-Departmental Support and Guidance: Act as the primary technical liaison for integrating systems with emerging technology dependencies, offering high-level guidance across departments.
  • Advanced Technical Expertise: Resolve complex technical roadblocks and provide technical evaluations for major initiatives, including target architecture reviews and large-scale RFPs.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Structure, document and disseminate experimental findings and advanced expertise across delivery teams and the broader organization to ensure seamless handoffs.

 

Continuous Improvement

  • Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to refine our rapid experimentation frameworks (Agile) and optimize collaboration tools (Jira/Confluence) to boost team velocity.

 

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical, software, computer or telecommunications), computer science or IT; a master’s degree or relevant professional certifications considered assets; Membership in the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or an equivalent professional body an asset.
  • Ten or more years of proven success in media technologies and digital transformation within complex organizational environments.
  • Strategic vision with a demonstrated ability to anticipate technology trends, lead complex innovation processes and capitalize on disruptive opportunities.
  • Strong curiosity about emerging technologies, combined with initiative and learning agility in a fast-evolving market.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership and Industry Networking: Proven track record of aligning internal teams and external partners around ambitious technology goals.
  • Exceptional strategic communication skills, with a talent for demystifying cutting-edge technical concepts for leadership and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Superior systems analysis and complex problem-solving skills.
  • In-depth knowledge in the following areas:
    • Next-generation live media production infrastructure and workflows (DMF, MXL, ST 2110, PTP, TAMS, Media-Over-IP, NMOS, etc.).
    • Cloud-native ecosystems and advanced virtualization strategies for organizational agility (Kubernetes, Ansible, Git, Terraform, RDMA network architectures, AWS, etc.).
    • Generative AI integration and process automation.
    • Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe), open-source practices and collaborative methodologies.
    • DevOps and Design Thinking paradigms applied to innovation.
  • Hands-on experience evaluating and deploying large-scale technology solutions during major organizational transformations.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) essential.
