Department Overview

The Electric Engineering team ensures the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Engineering is responsible for PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration, and emergency response.

Position Summary

This position is represented by Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC) subject to collective bargaining.

The Senior Advising level engineer job requires mastery of the Senior level engineer skills and duties. This position is responsible for providing technical strategy, implementation support for the transmission system, and handling complex problems and issues. The Senior Advising Engineer is a recognized expert within their area of responsibility, identifies opportunities and brings in ideas to help improve company performance and applies extensive knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices to resolve complex problems with only general direction.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business needs. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the job locality. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity.

The annual salary range is:

CA minimum, $173,856

CA maximum, $213,624

Responsibilities

  • Lead development, implementation, and management of a complete asset life cycle and system reliability strategies, plans, and programs including asset installation, maintenance, operations, replacement, and removal.
  • Address and manage emergency issues associated with assigned assets.
  • Support, perform or lead, as assigned, root cause analysis.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert in area of field and applies extensive knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices. Develop and provide specialized training on assets within areas of expertise.
  • Provide technical expertise in implementation of complex and large-scale projects.
  • Where applicable, act as a liaison with Maintenance and Construction personnel by providing communication and feedback regarding construction standards, work procedures and equipment issues.
  • Provide support on regulatory, governmental and other third-party issues.


Qualifications

Minimum:
  • Bachelor's degree electrical engineering from an accredited university
  • 13 years of cumulative experience in engineering, planning and/or operations within the electric utility industry


Desired:
  • Current California PE license
  • Project Management experience
  • Experience with Substation disconnect switches
  • Active participation in industry working groups
